The start of something special

Day 992, 16:26 Published in USA USA by Harrison Richardson

I know you're not supposed to be reading very many articles right now, but I felt like writing about this before I forgot. Speaking of doing things before I forget: tradition pictures will be temporarily suspended pending the admin's fixing of the image code tags. Sorry, I can't make the admins fix their own game any faster than you can.

If you haven't heard, there is this pretty cool new project called the University of Publius. Named after our current Vice President and all around Beta Badass, it's not a typical Game Mechanics 101 school. Since it was founded, I always had the vision for UPub to be more. I wanted classes to be interactive and involve give and take between the Professors and the students. I wanted Professors to be dedicated, so I was prepared to offer a salary from the start. I wanted the best students, so I made the University tuition free to any student who wished to apply.

Now, we're going to go more in depth on the first of those "big ideas", a little something I call the Comprehensive History of the World (CHW).

Since the creation of the game, there has been no single source for game history. There are hodge podges of history here and there, but as Beta giants die out, an entire history of the game is being lost with them. Articles are impossible to search for and that makes maintaining a history even more impossible. No one has ever attempted to compile the histories of so many people in to one colossal wall of text before. Well, until now.

Working with GoalieBCSC, Professor of History, students will act as research assistants in seeking out a complete and accurate history on a country by country basis. As this is surely a massive task that will span many months, students will pass on their work from term to term or stick around if they want to keep working. Students will be given the task of getting a complete history from a few countries each. A financial incentive will be given to all those who write the actual history. Sorry, that doesn't include the research assistants. After the research is compiled and the history for that particular country written, a Board of Elders, along with the Professor, will review the material and check its bias and factual basis. If the history is approved, it will be added to the ledger with other countries and prepared for the release to the public and the author will be paid. If it isn't approved, we go back to step one and try to fix it.

Once all countries (or a good majority) have been compiled, the Professor and Students, with the Elders, will begin to work on an index, an appendix, and an Opening Word to the history. Then, a Sparknotes-esque form of the history will be written by an international member of the community (and, of course, they will be paid). Once all of this is complete, the CHW will be released and it will be the job of future UPub History classes to maintain it and keep up with accuracy requests.

I will write about the updates from this very paper, but until next time, adieu.
