Bang! It’s officially been over a week since the Congressional Elections decided who would be a member of the 32nd Mandate, and in this short amount of time, we have been working our sweaty bums off trying to serve you, the citizens of the United States of America. Remember how Miley Cyrus quit her Twitter, concealing her world from obsessive die-hard fans? Yeah, we are not like that in Congress since we let you in to our wonderful operations. We adore the obsessed.


"The more you stomp and poo, the more it stinks." I wonder why she hasn't won a Newbary Award yet.

Speaker of the House Elections

Every two months, Congress elects a Speaker of the House, who serves as a moderator and keeps things running smoothly. This person ensures that things are getting done in Congress, and we just aren’t wasting precious time. The three candidates running for Speaker of the House were Necros Xiaoban, PrincessMediPi, and Dr. Tango, all three immensely qualified candidates.

After a very tight race, Necros Xiaoban pulled out on top over PrincessMediPi and Dr. Tango. The voting concluded with 22 to 15 to 1 respectively. Two Congressmen voted to abstain. The newly elected “crispy” Speaker of the House appointed Devan Kronos as Deputy Speaker of the House and retained Rainy Sunday as the Congressional Whip. Congratulations to all of those mentioned!

Now I please interrupt this public service announcement to bring you a word from the new Speaker of the House, Necros Xiaoban!

"Hello, America. I am Necros Xiaoban, the newly elected Speaker of the House. My principal role is to work with Congress and facilitate discussion. We're off to a great start this month with a new budget passed, and a strong interest in reforming our existing tax structure.

We've had a huge number of newly elected congressmen this month, and I look forward to each of them growing in their understanding of the legislative process, and the greater understanding of how the government runs in general.

I encourage anyone interested in joining the discussion to talk to their Party Presidents or political directors about how they can have an opportunity to run in the next Congressional election.

Welcome the New Budget

Especially after the release of eRepublik Rising, we knew we couldn’t be wasteful. As a result, a budget was proposed by Batterytime and sponsored by Necros Xiaoban. We passed the proposal to go to the voting block. In the budget, we made many spending cuts ranging from the military to the Department of Interior. In the military, we made 25% to 30% spending cuts, depending on the branch, and made it so we can only afford four Mutual Protection Pacts a week.

Laurenbug has Left the Bullding

Yes, Laurenbug has quit eRepublik, just like many veterans have been doing since the launch of eRepublik Rising. She had worked tremendously in many aspects of this game, and she will be greatly missed. Before her departure, she was a very active Director of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the division of Congress that handles immigration requests.

Because of this, the Director of the ICE position is now open. What is Congress’s solution to this? So far, Necros Xiaoban created a proposal that JDR1986 become the next director of the ICE. JDR1986 had been serving as the temporary Director of the ICE after Laurenbug’s departure. Since the proposal got ten approvals, it has been moved to the chopping block. I think it is safe to say that JDR1986 will become the next Director of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Tax Reform Anybody?

A few days ago, Jaded Knight, a new Congressman from the UIP, took the initiative to propose a legitimate idea to Congress. In the proposal, Congress would increase import tax on food to 5%. Right now, the idea is about split in Congress. Many Congressmen are worrying that this will cause prices to rise, thus hurting the economy. Even after 5 lengthy pages of discussion, the debate still continues.

Jaded Knight, an obvious supporter of this idea said, “In closing, We should be doing something to help the eUS, in all aspects. Our import tax should at least match the VAT to be fair! This change will help domestic companies by leveling the playing field and raise money for the government. There will be more figures as i can find the time to research them as far as food cost and hopefully i can find wage information also. I wanted to get this up for now so the discussion can be opened. Thank you.”

On the other hand, Dr. Tango, said, “By having low import taxes, we force our job market into lower wages which allows us to sell our RMs abroad, bringing in money for America.” To see the entire discussion, please click here.
