The Slovenian Dilemma

Day 2,014, 07:08 Published in Switzerland USA by csabo07
Hello fellow Swiss! (as well as any other nationalities who stumble across this article)

I would like to begin this article with a story I remember hearing in world history class. The year is somewhere around 1916, and WW1 is in full swing. The central powers had been fighting the allies for 2 years now, and both sides have suffered tremendous casualties. morale has taken a hard hit on both sides, and a single question has begun to creep into the minds of many of their soldiers. Why are we even fighting? It has been told that, when the commanding officers left, soldiers from either side would sometimes cross over and play cards or exchange food & cigarettes with the enemy. For the ones brave enough to step into enemy lines, they discovered their "enemy" was no different than themselves.

I shared that story in hopes that we as a country do not make a decision we will later regret. As you are all very well aware, Swiss-Slovenian relations have turned entirely hostile over the last few days. This conflict originated from disputes over a contract agreement regarding the original eSwiss territories. These territories were previously loaned to Slovenia to prevent Swiss PTO parties from dominating the country. As the PTO threat diminished, the two countries organized a contract agreement in which Slovenia could keep these territories so long as they paid 30,000 CC per month. This is where things get out of control.

Over a missed payment, things quickly turned hostile. There are many stories floating around regarding what actually happened the days following this missed payment, but unfortunately, it's impossible to know exactly what went down because every story is drastically biased. Midst this entire endeavor, only one thing has revealed itself as true.

We have not properly communicated!

We as a country have already made Slovenia out to be a bitter enemy, and simultaneously, they have made us out to be one as well. I beg to ask one question. WHY?

Yes, we're both very unique nations, and have notable differences, but we have made a war out of nearly nothing. Instead of making a genuine attempt to sit down and create a compromise, both sides have just been pumping up their citizens with reasons why the other country is so bad. Arguments over articles have changed entirely to "he said, she said" situations. It's come to a point where many individuals such as myself ask, "Why are we even fighting?"

I propose we organize a convention. It should consist of 5-10 Slovenian leaders & 5-10 Swiss leaders in a private chat room. Here, we can speak both sides and craft a fair compromise. With good communication skills, I full-heatedly believe both sides can be completely appeased. If negotiations prove to be impossible, we can still continue the same path of war we are on now; we just shouldn't take that road without at least trying to end this peacefully. That's just my two cents.

Until next time, keep it real Switzerland!

ALso, thanks for voting A.I.M. Kate Upton thanks you 🙂
