The Role of a New eCitizen in eIreland?
RingoC
Having asked around, I am deemed no longer new to this game despite being here for just over 2 weeks. For me though, I am still trying to find my feet and still trying to understand my role here as a new eCitizen in eIreland.
There have been a small handful of fellow eCitizens here that have been very kind in their assistance, encouragement and tips towards me. That filled me with confidence in my selection of not only erepublik but also eIreland.
I've continued to remain a eCitizen in this world through these promising signs, but I do find myself questioning how seriously new, keen and promising new users are taken. It reminds me of comparing sizes in the playground when people focus on Levels or Exp.
I am now leaning towards a theory that new eCitizens here are just present to boost the older eCitizens in terms of their finances through companies. I do appreciate that this is a social theory that can be commonly applied outside of erepublik, but in a place here where people are making [false] [empty] promises when putting themselves forward for Congress stating that they will make a difference - those people actually do have the influence to do so.
Instead I've seen an increase in the pointless Congress proposals which I just assumed were made in jest. I then become fairly annoyed when I then read that the purpose of the elected Congress doing this is to gain extra experience points not available to other eCitizens.
This in itself makes me question what the criteria to be elected for Congress requires, having made a failed attempt to be voted in. Some people may state that I am jealous because of these circumstances which would not be the case. I am just a honest person with high morals and values who feels let down by a eIreland which appears to promote, tolerate and encourage this level of internal misconduct of Office.
The question still remains: Are us 'new people' merely statistics who do not matter to those who believe they are 'better' than us based on experience points questionably gained?
Reassurance required.

Not at all, It is we paragraph users who look down upon the rest of the populace. Welcome to the club. I am sure you will do well here.
/msg Noobs USE PARAGRAPHS AND PUNCTUATION
Ringo, we congressman can have experience by just voting but we cant fight in a foreign country so we miss that experience
And be sure, we debate about a lot of things in the Dail
No. It was never that way when I was MoNC and it is not that way now. You matter. Don't allow the actions of a few discourage you from discovering all the wonderful people who live here. Those people in the Ministry of New Citizens, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Community and many many others, are sincere in their desire to help new citizens grow and thrive.
I'm sorry you did not win this last time. There are many who failed to get into Congress the first time, but succeeded a second time. So don't give up. We need people who are active and committed to making this place better.
I didn't like the way the last Congressional term ended either. I was in Congress in previous terms and this is the first time I've seen such actions. Personally, that's not the way I operate. I don't put forward proposals just to get the xp.
That being said, those TD's have also done a lot of good. While I cannot condone this practice, I am not going to condemn them for it either. Does that make sense?
This was a wee bit longer than I intended. But I feel passionately about it. You matter, Ring. I will be PMing you. 🙂 I hope this is the reassurance you were looking for.
With much love,
Edana
You might be surprised what a new citizen could do 😉
This noob doesn't look like noob. I think he believes he is 'better' than us.
Ringo:
The Princess does so much to guide new citizens onto the right path at the beginning of their citizenship to ensure their furture success in eRepublik and eIreland.
I take so much time and energy to ensure new citizens become well-rounded, active eIrishpeople.
The Princess understands your article was not a slight towards deputies of New Citizens like herself or the lovely Ministry of Health, but she is still saddened by your assumptions about others' thoughts in regards to new citizens like yourself.
It has been brought to my attention that "noob" or "newbie loobie" (however loving the nick name)could be taken as insulting to new citizens. Is this part of your reasoning or is it purely because of your failed attempt to be elected as a TD?
Perhaps the Princess is a bit scorned because her many efforts to make new Citizens welcome has been slighted in your article. She imparts unto you some knowledge:
New citizens are very valuable to eIreland not because of the numbers they bring to the population, but because of the new ideas they can deliver to the table. You should great potential and your being active is already a promising sign for becoming a TD next term.
The Princess certainly jests with her 3rd person speech and lofty air, but she loves her jobs and the new people she meets while conducting them.
If you would like, I'm putting together a deputy system for the MoH which I would need some deputies to execute. It's not a TD position, but it is a step towards becoming more active in the government.
Please send me a PM if you're interested.
Please feel welcomed.
Best,
Irish Princess ♥
Edan is definetly right! New Citizens have a great role in ireland, becasue they bring in a new generation of active, political players.
i didnt get into congress on my first try, it took me 3 times to get in, but I believe the best thing ANYONE can do is apply for a deputy position in any ministry, you get more expirience then being in congress and you may someday become a minister!
And as for expirience points, I dotn look at people exp to judge them I look at their activity, and their willingness to help Ireland.
As a relatively new citizen myself, I can tell you that you are over analyzing the situation. You are not alone though, about 2 weeks after I joined I published an article very similar to this one questioning how welcome I was.
I think you writing this article is a great first step, just letting people know you're there will help a lot. I can assure you though, we are welcome. Shortly after I wrote that article I became a Deputy Minister of New Citizens(the funny part being that you were in the first batch of the new citizens I was assigned to help). Having this job I can assure you we try incredibly hard to make you feel welcome. I think the main problem is that not many of the new citizens respond. Out of around 80 new citizens I've had so far, only one has responded to my initial welcoming message.
This may not be directed at you Ringo, but just a tip to those newer citizens that may be reading; take the help that is offered. It will be to your benefit and it shows interest and dedication which is what I think will get you far.
Hope this helps,
Michael Hook
