Background

The Rebellion was primarily a protest against the many changed the game admins made to Erepublik that were unpopular, not previously announced before implementation, buggy modules in the game, and a general lack of admin-citizen communication. This can be dated back to the implementing of V2 of Erepublik, when many changes were unpopular.
Timeline of the Rebellion

The rebellion can be considered to have started on Wednesday, the 2nd of March 2011, when a number of Country Presidents put up a vote in their national congresses to change the citizen message to an anti-Erepublik text, and were soon after permanently banned for disrespecting the Erepublik Laws. Prompted by strong anger towards the bannings, Jonathan Joestar created the IRC channel #Rebellion on the rizon server.
The rebellion built support on IRC throughout Wednesday and into Thursday, where hundred of citizens joined the channel. At it's peak, there were around 550 users in the channel. From here, various anti-admin and anti-plato articles were linked to and voted, in many countries. Many citizens partaking in the publishing of these out-spoken articles received Forfeit Points (FPs), later dubbed Famous Points or Revolutionary Points, and temporary bans.
The President-Admin secret section of the Erepublik forum [1] was also broken in to when an unknown individual leaked the password to the channel, and it was added to the channel topic for all to see. Tens of threads voicing dissatisfaction towards Plato and the Admin team were created in this forum, and many more in the public sections. The Erepublik Facebook group was then targeted, with citizens being called to rate it with one star and post comments. The Erepublik Admin team later removed the rights to comment on the group.
Throughout the day, heads of state and other representatives from many countries signed an anti-admin Charter[2], blaming the Admin Team of failing to listen to the general ePublic, or even the Presidents group, but instead implemented unrequested and unhelpful features to the game which would "ruin [the] game even more", in order to "maximize the gold usage". Side-by-side with this Charter, the Presidents made a mutual agreement to cease all wars and fighting in a stand against the admins.
An independent forum was established to provide some organization to a so far spontaneous and unplanned protest [3]. On Friday, 3 AM Erepublik time, a meeting with Belea2008, a member of the Erepublik Team, was arranged. Over 1,040 citizens were present in the channel to watch the meeting, which ended extremely quickly, with Belea declaring the discussion pointless, as the players had non-negotiable demands [4].
Media Propaganda

A variety of graphical images were used during the protests in articles and forum threads, portraying Plato as a dictator such as Hosni Mubarak or Colonel Gaddafi. On top of this, it is estimated that hundred of articles were made in support of the rebellion, many of which were deleted by the Admin Team for breaching the Erepublik Laws or Terms of Service.

Aftermath
