The Problem with The Southeast

Over the past several weeks we, as eAmericans, have had the unprecedented opportunity for training in the war games of Baja, thanks to the work of President Uncle Sam, Publius and President Scrabman. As the originally contracted timeframe for those wargames comes to a close the question of our next steps of diplomacy with our neighbors to the south must be addressed.
It appears that negotiations are winding down on a possible non-aggression pact with Mexico that would provide closure to military action on our southern border and the determination of consequences for forays by Mexico across our southern border. While this may be the first step toward a lasting peace with Mexico, it raises a serious question regarding the continued occupation of Southeast, Mexico by Portugal.
As Portugal currently occupies The Southeast in Mexico, ostensibly as the remainder of “protective influence” against eUS aggression, I feel compelled to urge President Scrabman to discontinue discussion regarding non-aggression pacts with Mexico until we can be absolutely certain that Portugal and its PEACE allies completely withdraw from the original soil of Mexico.
The reasoning is clear, while there may be consequences for the eUSA and eMexico written into any agreement, Portugal’s presence in Mexico provides for the perfect opportunity to tie America’s ability to attack into Mexican territory if assaulted but it furnishes no consequence to the occupying Portuguese for ramming through Mexico to threaten the eUS South.
Portugal! Give The Southeast back to Mexico!
You alone, Portugal, are the biggest obstacle to Mexican sovereignty and peaceful diplomatic relations with the United States! Get out now!
I urge all eUS citizens that agree that we should not enter into any pact with Mexico that does not include the return of the Portugal-occupied Southeast to Mexico to comment and vote this article so that the Presidents of both countries can see this and recognize that the eUS is serious about all Mexican lands being returned to Mexico prior to any long term agreements being signed!

I would have to agree here, the force of Portugal within Mexico is quite disturbing though I doubt they would give it up - it is worth a shot 😉
I agree with the article. It doesn't seem right that the US must close the war and give up Baja without the Portugal giving back the SouthEast. I doubt anyone can question Scrabman on the issue of trust, its not like we wouldn't give back Baja AFTER Portugal gives up the SouthEast.
@Michael: And the fact that the Southeast is one of the two High Oil Resource regions in Mexico is just coincidental too...hhmmmm? How convenient, I thought that was what MPPs were for.

Good idea, though we are contractually bound for the war games, that does not prevent us from delaying the non-aggression pact until Portugal leaves though...just a thought...why should we be punished for trying to defend our southern border in the event that Portugal decides to move in...
What don't we get an MPP with Mexico and have Mexico declare war on Portugal and since the first fights will take place on Mexican soil the MPP will be activated and we can help them take it back through force.

Scrab has proven himself to be a man of his word. He urged the US to rebuild the Q5 hospital in Mexico, and caught considerable flak for it domestically.
I don't think any American besides the greenest noob wants any more conflict with Mexico. (apologies, Marcus, but the last time we tried, it didn't work out that well. And Mexico doesn't have anything we want. imho, our greatest security interest in Mexico is securing our southern border with Mexico as an intact sovereign nation, no matter which alliance they affiliate with).
Anyway, true, MPP's have a cost, but Portugal has a stated aim of keeping their MPP's alive without cost, while Portugal likes the fact that a substantial portion of our treasury goes into renewing our MPP's each month.
If Mexico wants a non-aggression pact and improved relations with the US, it would be helpful to invite the Portuguese to leave Southeast.
Otherwise, whether it's warranted or not, they could be seen as a puppet of Portugal, which is a country with which we are at a seemingly perpetual state of war.

I don't see Mexico on the list...why doesn't Portugal just leave SE and actually make the protective alliance? One word, three letters: Oil. Give Mexico their region back...

You expect ePortugal to do anything? LoL. I havent been in this game that long but even I know those people in ePortugal are greedy idiots who think the world is theirs. They will keep their greedy paws in mexico as long as they are tollerated by the eMexicans.
Its not the eUSA's job to go in there and clean out ePortugal from the region, its eMexico's job and they dont seem very hip to do it.
We should still have trade relations and help Mexico get Portugal out of Mexico if we leave Mexico to its own devises we doom Mexico to the hands of the PEACE forces. We need to keep up relations with them.
Convince your ally Spain to close the war on Mexico before you ask Portugal to leave Mexiko.

This has to be the most rediculous thing I've read regarding this topic.
If you're so worried about our allies in the Southeast, why not "agress" as you put it, to get your own allies, the Spanish, to close their war with us? If it were REALLY that much of a bother, you'd be doing more on your end rather than making up rediculous things like this.
Protip: Mexico has TWO high oil regions. But I'm sure the logical side of your journalism wasnt quite communicating well with your sensationalist side.

eUSA didnt give a damn about eMexico sovereignity when it was trying to ERASE it from the map.
ePortugal in conjuction with eMexico retook ALL the territories eUSA took, and 2 were already given back to eMexico.
eMexico and ePortugal are allies and will do as they see best for the both of their countries.

To the rest: I actually am the President of Mexico. Officially, eMexico is just fine with the Southeast in Portugal, as we already have another high oil region, and Portugal aids in our protection against the Spanish. If you want to end whatever you want to call "Portuguese Occupation", talk to the Spanish about closing their war.

I believe it's time for e-America to encourage our e-Mexican amigos to move forward toward their own goals and destiny. Let them know that we are fully behind them, in their negotiations with e-Portugal...as they do what they can to clarify to that temporary occupation force, the fact that the time for occupation is rapidly nearing an end, and needs to be looked at in this light!

I still say we test Portugal. Can they defend on multi fronts again spain and us? Id be happier to handle this threat with violence. Leave Mexico alone and hammer on the people defending them and posing a threat to us. Id be happy to let Portugal to stay in Mexico if we psuh them out of Europe.
If you're truly concerned with Mexico, move here as I did. Fight against the forces that have unjustly invaded this country. Mexico has a struggling economy and a poor retention rate of citizens. They don't need to be made into the punching bag for imperialist regimes' "War Games". Mexico never did anything to deserve this and peace will never be attained while she is occupied.

What does Portugal occupation of an Mexican region have to do with the United States? Portugal occupation of that region is an agreement between Portugal and Mexico to block a Spanish invasion.
