The Presidential Debate: Summary

Day 348, 19:12 Published in USA USA by AidenAstrup

Tonight was the official Presidential Debate between Peregrine and Benn Dover. Many topics were covered, but most important of all, scarily similar to RL was the economy. This is just a summary of a few main points. I suggest reading the whole transcript in addition to this article.

"While I agree that our market is experiencing some difficulties in the form of inexpensive products, where are these coming from? I do not think that peregrine has taken into consideration the fact that the admins gave each company 3k raw materials, and that this is a very temporary problem." said Benn Dover

Peregrine did not reply to this statement, rather going on and discussing how we got into this mess and how it can be fixed "I think we're dealing with two major issues in our economy, the first is not just overproduction but overcapacity. The new company prices and rules, along with new domains and an entirely new sector has encouraged many users with limited experience in running companies to get their feet wet.....This is the primary motivation for my recommendation of the SBA"

Both candidates had proposed using war as a tool to lift eAmerica out of its economic crisis, using a planned war, or as Peregrine calls it "WarGames". He stated "we can go back and forth on the issue of wargames and who had the idea first, I think its a logical plan that's been under discussion for some time and that I've approached the issue methodically. I ask voters to review both plans."

In corelation with WarGames the moderator asked about what each candidate thought of the military. Peregrine replied saying "I think that the army is moving towards a semi-independence which will greately serve the stability of military pay and our military response time to critical national security issues into the future. As President I will support their efforts in whatever way I can, and help also by giving them somthing to do through WarGames"

Benn Dover attacked Peregrine stating that he "has been regarded as an individual with little to no foreign affairs experience. If I am elected president, not only will I personally attempt to gather the best relations with Atlantis AND Peace countries, but I too will surro[nded?] In a matter of days, all of our MPPs will dissolve. We can do one of two things here - re-shape our alliance to fit what our country desires most, or spread our rapidly-expanding nation to a border country. If elected president, I can promise a war, be it peaceful or for the sake of conquest."

Peregrine quite simply stated he "believes that there's still work to be done in the military, but that they are on the right track and well on their way. I have a personal relationship with many of the top military brass, and I believe that I have shown myself to be mature and open-minded in the way that I receive advice."

A lot more was discussed in the debates, this was just a quick summary for those who did not make it or are not willing to read the whole transcript, which I suggest you do. After the debate, the VP's discussed each candidate.
Franco said "I think Peregrine, and Benn for that matter, are both excellent candidates. Peregrine, however, it a notch above. His maturity, leadership, and charisma go unmatched in my opinion within this election. Real life experience, however small of a factor, can play a role in eRep and I don't think it should be overlooked. In addition, leading the countries largest party is no easy task and also shouldn't be overlooked."

Justinious stated "that Benn has shown his ingenuity, his drive, and his commitment to this game and to this country over the past 9+ months and will greatly improve and grow this nation. He has a firm understanding of the economy and will take the steps needed to improve ours, and fix any crisis should it arise. Politically Benn is not representing a particular party, but he is embodying what the US seems to want in a candidate."

This is a good time to OFFICIALLY announce considering the actual debate, that our premature endorsement of Peregrine still remains, after being reinforced by tonights debate. Yes, this summary was weighted slightly due to our endorsement, get over it, that's the press.

DON'T FORGET to vote NOV. 5th!
