The Party President Elections (PLP)

Day 993, 04:37 Published in North Korea New Zealand by Shauny B

Ladies and Gentlemen of North Korea,

Today, I come before you as a humble servant of our great nation. Although I am new to this country, I have attempted to contribute as much as possible to the community and the country at large. I believe I have achieved this. And, to help further the process of rebuilding our nation, I announce that I will be running for the Party President position in the Red Ghost Party. I plan on renaming it the People's Liberation Party, or PLP for short.

This all has a purpose. I see a nation with a bright future, shining over the entirety of Asia. To quote Bismarck, "One must wait until he hears the steps of God sounding through events, then leap up and grasp the hem of His garment." Now, my countrymen, is the time to reach up and grasp that hem. Now is our chance to advance. Allow me now to outline what the party will stand for.

Foreign Policy:

We should develop good ties to Phoenix, EDEN and the Brolliance. Ambassadors should be sent to key countries, or at the least have them active on the forums of their countries. As a country, with no real life citizen base, we must promote North Korea abroad. Countries for this media attention would be countries such as the USA, Canada, Australia and South Africa. Once our economy gets off the ground, citizen ads could be utilized to supplement already existing newspaper coverage.

Economic Policy:

As stated above, we do not have a real life citizen base, so our economy shall never be particularly strong. However, as we are poised between China, Russia, South Korea, Japan, Indonesia, Canada and the USA, we have the opportunity to export to stronger markets and gain from them. I'll need to check certain countries import taxes, etc. to see where the most effective use of export can be achieved. To begin our economic progress, State backed companies should be given preference, as (in the beginning at least) this method produces reasonable returns and jobs for beginners.

Military Policy:

Our army shall never be large, as those from other countries around us are. However we have a rather experienced citizen base, and this is where our true advantage lies. Reasonably high levels of organization, discipline and activity will be key to our victory in any battle. We should also have a rather mobile military structure as this allows our troops to fight for any potential allied countries that may require our assistance. There would also be a militia, for our land locked citizens, to fight in times of crisis.

I hope this has given you some insight into the inner workings of the People's Liberation Party, and I hope that the Citizens of North Korea join me in our country's march to greatness.
