The Obvious Choice

Day 854, 20:48 Published in Ireland Ireland by Sweet Drinker

Sweet Drinker here, but you might as well call me

Captain Obvious

After 4 months of managing Ireland's State Infrastructure I've decided to take a break from the Ministry. Hell I've hired/fired over 1000 people, it's time for a break! However I cannot abandon our government so I'm running for the Dail this month.

You see, I am our governments Captain Obvious. As annoying as it is, somebody has to be there in the Dail to make those comments that thread starters hate to hear. Comments like:

"Companies can't do that because...."
"People will not be able to afford food if you do that because....."
"That bit of legislation cannot work because...."
"Companies will just avoid that tax because...."
Or, my least favorite:
"The nation will be bankrupt in 2 months if we do that.....because" sigh
Occasionally I have the opportunity to say:
"This is a great idea that we can achieve and will benefit the nation because...."

CaptainO is not a popular figure. No statue is going to be erected in honour of my contributions. In fact, most government officials probably don't even like me. (Last night one prominent minister referred to me as "stupid w***e&quot😉 But that just goes with the job I guess, not really interested in kudos or big lists of achievements to add to my forum name tag. Not that I don't have any, I just hate having to scroll down for 5mins just to read the next comment.

Perhaps I'm mostly unknown due to my total lack of media presence, but for four straight months and four separate administrations I have been trusted with all of our national assets, as well as being a reliable advisor to those I've served under. Regardless of their party, I really couldn't give a $%£& about that, seems they couldn't either.

I'm asking you to trust me to continue to act as a voice of reason in the Dail as a representative of Shannon. Someone who actually 'runs the numbers' on each proposal to determine it's merit. A citizen with experience in the true logistics that keep eIreland from sinking into the pit is so nearly drowning in.

Things are definitely bad here. They are bad all over. But believe me when I say they could be much much worse, I've seen the proposals!

Anyway, throw me a vote in Shannon if you prefer concise well informed government to a bunch of bull£$%&. My erep name is 'Sweet Drinker'.

At least don't vote for some dumb£$%
