The kiwi has a name, a pretty cool name, I like it, you might like it too

The contest is over, and the name of our kiwi is…

Whaka.

You can look at the results at the forum. To be completely honest, “None, they all suck” got more votes, but of the six nominated names, Whaka got the most.

Carr De Vaux, the cat who first came up with the name, has been given five gold for winning the contest.

Whaka has his own Wiki page already. You are more than welcome to visit it at http://wiki.erepublik.com/index.php/Whaka, and by all means, contribute to it, leave a relative anecdote, be part of Whaka taking on a life of his own.

I’ve spoken to Prime Minister Calbe about granting Whaka an honorary ministry position. I mentioned naming him the perpetual Minister of National Spirit, but whatever he decides, I hope to look upon the national Wiki page and see Whaka there among the other ministers.

I think it was Friedrich Nietzsche who spoke of a nation’s legends, that a people are impoverished without its heroes and myths. In the spirit of community togetherness and national culture, I wish Whaka well, and I hope the people of New Zealand take him to heart and find creative ways to keep him in the mix.
