The God delusion
Hans Rienveld
According to the eRep wiki there are 5 recognised religions in the New World. There are several people claiming to be a god or a deity. The most famous of these is Dio Brando, the founder of the first religion, Dioism.
After spending some time reading up on the religions, I have noticed that none of these people are documented to have special powers or abilities. In fact, the only extra-ordinary act I could find is that they died and arose from the dead. Of course anyone who knows AndreasIsaksson, knows this is not extra-ordinary at all and quite a common occurrence in the New World.
AndreasIsaksson resurrecting from death once again
But still these people have amassed impressive hordes of followers. Having just seen that these people are not special in anyway apart from perhaps in their ability to delude themselves and others it made me think why these people were allowing themselves to be deluded.
The only reason I can think is, is the one also given in the erep wiki: “created to add to a nation or party's culture.” But what is strange that these religions are not state or party religions. So even this reason is a delusion in itself.
But what surprises me most of all is that none of these people have realised that there is already in fact a very real God in the New World. This very well-known God has all the characteristics a God requires as I have outlined below:
WARNING: wall of text coming up!
Wisdom: “Wisdom is the ability to devise perfect ends and to achieve these ends by the most perfect means.” In other words, God makes no mistakes. He is the Father who truly knows best. How great are God’s riches and wisdom and knowledge! How impossible it is for us to understand His decisions and His ways!”
Infinitude: God knows no boundaries. He is without measure. This attribute by definition impacts all of the others. Since God is infinite, everything else about Him must also be infinite.
Sovereignty: This is “the attribute by which He rules His entire creation.” It is the application of His other attributes of being all-knowing and all-powerful. It makes Him absolutely free to do what He knows to be best. God is in control of everything that happens. Man still has a free will, and is responsible for his choices in life.
Holiness: This is the attribute that sets God apart from all created beings. It refers to His majesty and His perfect moral purity. There is absolutely no sin or evil thought in God at all. His holiness is the definition of that which is pure and righteous in all the universe.
Omniscience: “God possesses perfect knowledge and therefore has no need to learn. God has never learned and cannot learn.” Omniscience means all-knowing. God knows everything, and His knowledge is infinite. It is impossible to hide anything from God (apart from the odd multi account here and there of course).
Faithfulness: Everything that God has promised will come to pass. His faithfulness guarantees this fact.
Omnipotence: Literally this word means all-powerful. Since God is infinite and since He possesses power, He possesses infinite power. He does allow His creatures to have some power, but this in no way diminishes His own.
Self-sufficiency: All other life in the universe is a gift from God. He has no needs and there is no way He can improve. To God, nothing else is necessary. He does not need our help with anything, but because of His grace and love, He allows us to be a part of advancing His plan on earth and being a blessing to others. We are the ones who change, but never God. He is self-sufficient.
Justice: He does not conform to some outside criteria. Being just brings moral equity to everyone. When there are evil acts, justice demands there be a penalty which God administers onto the punisher.
Omnipresence: This theological term means “always present.” Since God is infinite, His being knows no boundaries. So, clearly He is everywhere. This is certainly a comforting truth for all who follow God.
I have borrowed these characteristics from a very well-known RL religions and as you must agree these are characteristics that no citizen in the New World possesses. We can therefore conclude that any being in the New World with these characteristics must surely be a God.
Now some of you might still ask: who is this God you speak off?
Well, I can now reveal the name of this in-game God. It is none other than our beloved Admin. And not only is there a God, he also has a prophet called Carla (formerly known as Socrates) and a bible, called eRepublik Insider.
how God shows himself to his disciples in the New World
Now I have revealed name read over the characteristics again and you will have to agree that all these applies to Admin and therefore Admin truly is a God.
I therefore propose the cessation of all religions in eRepublik and for all deluded followers of these fake religions to repent and completely devote themselves to the one true God in this game: Admin.
Amen!
Now go forth and spread the word!

eGerman Adminism \o/
Sad that you used the title of Richard Dawkins great book to promote and other religion xD
But are the admins that powerful as you said or is the Admin god more like David Hume's notion of God and that this god is flawed. Wisdom is a hard thing to debate for many (maybe our lack of understanding in the greater picture) would say the Admins have not. If the Admins are Omniscience then they do not need the surveys they started a few days ago. Omnipotence? With all the bugs and technical issue, they cannot even master controlling their own realm. Are they Self-sufficient? No, they need something called Visa or Master Card. Holiness and Justice? I think many business owners in V2 disagree.
In the end we have to really accept Devid Hume's notion that if there is a god and in our case eGod, that this being is flawed. Not all powerful or all good. Either he is all powerful and does not give a damn, or he is not all powerful and have limitations. The eRep god seems to be both. Not all good and not at all, all powerful.
In logic which relates to Hume...
1. God exists.
2. God is omnipotent, omniscient, and perfectly good.
3. A perfectly good being would want to prevent all evils.
4. An omniscient being knows every way in which evils can come into existence.
5. An omnipotent being, who knows every way in which an evil can come into existence, has the power to prevent that evil from coming into existence.
6. A being who knows every way in which an evil can come into existence, who is able to prevent that evil from coming into existence, and who wants to do so, would prevent the existence of that evil.
7. If there exists an omnipotent, omniscient, and perfectly good being, then no evil exists.
8. Evil exists (logical contradiction).
Konrad, you are fast! 🙂
But you make very valid points but I must stress that you make them, I assume, as a non-believer. Followers of eGod, if there will ever be any of course, will not be able to accept your comments and will develop an elaborate theory to explain why evil exists in the New World.
Admin pls buy food 🙂
Our eGod is going to die!
Admin is god!
Admin is god!
@ Konrad;
>who wants to do so
Your argument is flawed by this, maybe god does not want to do so.
@Garmr
For those who wants to believe they can believe in the ideology but it does not mean it is true and that there is a God.
"Maybe GOd does not want to..."
Well then it fits Hume's notion that God is not perfect. To let evil and other problems to exist and you state that he "maybe does not want to do it etc" then it shows that "God" does not care and therefore not benevolent and perfect.
I have one question. When admin dies because he does not buy food, doesn't that end his omnipotence, as if he was omnipotent he could merely cause food to appear in his inventory?
Admins Please Attend
