The Fenian - More Than One Kind of Game

Day 4,121

Dear eIrish comrades,

Many years ago eRepublik used to have a rich economic and political module which made them competitive and really matter to every nation and every player. During this time we could imagine building off-site forums, hosting community music nights where 15+ people would show up (great times), and political elections were contentious and CP candidates had to write articles if they wanted a chance at winning the race.

Fast forward, years later, the game developers began focusing purely on the military aspect while neglecting the others - essentially leaving them in the dust. eRepublik started as being a game that made politics, business starting, and bringing communities together to hang out as much of a part of its military war game. Most older players have quit playing because they found these changes boring, largely made being a credit card player overpower the normal free players, and clicking buttons every day gets old for players who want more in a massive multiplayer game.

This is essentially what I have been saying all this time: if we want a renaissance in eIrish activity we need to invest time, energy, and work into these neglected spheres to make them fun for a LARGER population of players! We are not powerless to overturn this trend, we just need to embrace it! Yes, war and military organization is a huge part of this game, but why can't the military module be connected to the political module? Why don't we try to beef up our military through planned economic development and trade policy (we do already to a degree, but not nearly enough).

I propose we, as the eIrish community, make an effort to show why our great nation is so much more fun to be a part of than other dying and boring communities. We don't play their game, we play our game. eIreland should boast not only of its strong, loyal, and determined soldiers; we should boast of our active community and players taking their own creative initiatives to create articles, media, games, stuff that gives our community a character. We should boast of our diverse political representatives who discuss and debate national policy, organize our country into an effective economic powerhouse, stimulate economic growth, and give a bit of flavor to our political arena.

What has become too predominant is the idea that politics is dead and that politics are bad which is factually wrong and misguided. We can have politics, social divisions already exist, but we still all are loyal to eIreland and have our own vision of what our nation could be. This also hurts our national strength by denying all the opportunities I have stated above. It is alienating to players who either don't like the military aspect or want something more than the war game.

I will be releasing my book On the Governance of eIreland this month which details how eIreland can become revitalized nationally, make politics and economics fun and important again, improve our national military strength, and grow our community and stimulate activity!

Up the INLA freedom fighters!
Up the Irish Army!
Up the Irish Citizen Army!

Up the eIrish Republican Movement!

TL😉R - We are neglecting overlooked aspects of this game when we could be capitalizing on it. By not capitalizing on the political, economic, and social aspects we are robbing our nation of untapped potential and strength. Politics doesn't need to be toxic, it can stimulate growth and activity and enable players to be more creative in-game. Other nations are dying from boredom and inactivity. We don't play THEIR game, we need to play OUR game. Make eIreland stand out from all other nations!
