The End of Independence
The Ministry of Work
Hello workers.
You may have noticed the dramatic events of last night/early this morning. After the events leading to the reshuffle occurred the Department for Work was crippled, sadly to a greater extent than I had realised. Since the government shut down during president Final Destiny's term until today, the Department for Work had been operating independently of central UK government, that is to say we were self-sufficient, we survived thanks to the work of our youngest citizens instead of a budget from the Bank of England. When President JerryGFL took over, the UK was in dire straights, no money and a faltering economy, so I continued to operate the Department independently. After the election of Malta_1990 to President this became even harder, as the previous efforts of JerryGFL and finance minister Roadrunnerspeed were making themselves felt and combined with Malta_1990 and his finance minister, Iain Keer's, own efforts, the UK was truly blossoming again.
This had meant that we could no longer produce enough goods, cheaply enough and fast enough to sell when high skilled maximum productivity companies were back on the market, we were employing over 50 low skill workers and taking on as many of the new 0-skill citizens as possible, so it was never going to last. I thought thought that I could ride this out and end my third term still independent and leave the issue to my successor to decide how to proceed. But as I said, we had been crippled beyond my reckoning and so we ran out of money and resources, a temporary 100 GBP grant for wages/resources only delayed the inevitable, we weren't selling but were still paying and so we hit the ground at approximately 1 AM BST, Monday morning.
10 weeks was a nice run I guess, but now it's over. This is a good sign of course, it means our economy is booming and money is flowing again, just not to us. The Bank of England has ensured we can resume operations for the coming week and a more permanent budget is being drawn up, so expect some changes in the near future, until then, it's back to work as usual.

do you any idea of the figures yet needed to subsidise the DoW?
I am sorry to say this, but looking at the title I expected something worse, like a PTO...
Not awful news. It makes sense that the government should fund these companies as a way to give newbies a head start.
Scipio - I'm discussing that with Iain and Malta, current estimate is around 500 GBP per week.
Nice Guy - Indeed. As I mentioned, it's really good news as it shows how well the economy is doing that a we just can't match up any more.
