The End of an Era

For many of the long-time eCanada citizens Augustus Baldwin represented the pinnacle of right-wing thought. His presence in any discussion would guarantee a more conservative point of view. If he was a member of a political party you could be sure of the mandate of the party. He was Canada’s Right.

Sadly, over time, Augustus has drifted from being a leader toward the role of net-kook. He no longer leads discussions, but rather, acts to gain publicity. Witness the recent attempt to take over the CSD. This was not the act of a person wanting to advance the party. This was not the act of a person wanting to improve Canada. It was the act of a person wanting to insure that his name stays in the media spotlight.

The activities go further with the release of his newest article, “CSD Offers 5 Free Gold…” In this article Augustus claims that the CSD is offering Gold in exchange for votes. In the past we could expect satirical attach articles from Augustus. Now, he has merely moved into the realm of obnoxious and mean-spirited articles. Many of us who remember the older Augustus are disappointed to see this slide.

In the end, we should all keep our fond memories of the old Augustus. We should all revel in the memories of his wit and wisdom. Unfortunately, those memories will now be clouded by the new, unstable Augustus. I will cherish the old memories, and pity the new man. Canada is lessened by the loss.
