The EDEN That I Loved

Day 1,126, 18:06 Published in Finland Finland by avec

There's been several articles about EDEN, and the media is full of articles about what Phoenix and EDEN are doing every day. In forums people criticize and praise both alliances for varying reasons, but do any of them have a real picture about what either alliance stands for? Of course all of them have their own picture of the alliance(s), as do I. I wanted to share my view on how EDEN in my opinion should be. Judge for yourself if it's the same as the EDEN that exists.

EDEN: A Brotherhood of nations, an alliance based on mutual friendship and commitment

EDEN is a Brotherhood based on mutual friendship, cooperation and trust. An alliance cannot be based on purely numbers and treaties, as countries in such alliances have no motive to help each other in times of need, nor to pursue common goals. Rather than size and strength, the defining factor for EDEN member countries is commitment to the alliance. Even a few people from separate countries working for a common goal is better than many working for separate goals.

Furthermore, to maintain EDEN as a Brotherhood, it should be kept compact. Bringing in new countries because they want in is not in the best interests for the alliance – rather, their mettle should be tested over time, and seen if making them a member is useful for the Brotherhood. Every member country should be friends with each other, and keeping it compact helps achieve that.

EDEN Command Council

Every member country in EDEN has an equal voice in alliance matters regardless of population size or amount of regions. Member countries are represented by their President, who act as a voice for their respective countries. Presidents of each member country form a 'Command Council' for EDEN, which convenes every month to discuss strategic priorities for the alliance, and votes for HQ positions every second month. The Command Council acts like congress in relation to the HQ – it discusses issues and votes for them, but the actual decision-making belongs to the HQ:

An HQ for the people, by the people

As the highest authority to oversee alliance operations and functionality there exists an HQ, independent of any member country. The HQ is tasked to create, plan and maintain the basic structures needed for an alliance: diplomatic interaction between member countries, military planning, army coordination, economic cooperation and communication in and outside the alliance. People in the HQ are picked from a pool of member country officials, but they represent no single country in the HQ. When they enter the HQ, they are not representatives of Croatia, Romania, Poland, Spain, or any other country. They are simply EDEN, and seek the best interests of the alliance as a whole.

The HQ is lead by a Supreme Commander. The Supreme Commander is tasked to oversee the HQ, and coordinate its function. He plans military campaigns with the help of Military Organizers, and mediates between member countries, and represents EDEN. He sees that the HQ acts as it's meant to, and upholds the values and principles upon which EDEN is based on.

To help the SC in military planning, in the HQ there are Military Organizers: knowing, trusted and distinguished military tacticians who have experience in planning military operations. Their responsibility is to create both short-term and long-term military campaigns for the alliance, and to raise a unified army from the Brotherhood militias.

Aside from the military side, the HQ consists also of offices like Economic Organizer, Public Relations Organizer, Intelligence and Security Director who have their respective tasks in economy, media, politics and diplomacy.

To maintain continuity in alliance politics, the HQ continues in office as long as the people there are willing. Elections are held every two months to confirm that the HQ still enjoys the trust of the member countries – if not, they can be replaced. If yes, they carry on as before. Continuity is important in this high-level office, and it allows for people in the HQ to acquire a view of the world from alliance-level point of view, that helps seek the best interests of the alliance for the benefit of all member countries.

United military planning involving all member countries

In order to achieve synchrony between member countries' military operations, every military operation is planned under centralised command. Representatives and tacticians from every country are gathered in one channel, where all can participate in planning military operations. The channel acts as a platform for all countries in EDEN, where the top level officials are informed of alliance military priorities. All military campaigns for the alliance are planned in this channel.

As the second tier, all military commanders from every member country are gathered in one channel too. They are informed of daily battle priorities, and ordered to supply their armies to fight in battles prioritised by the HQ. Military Organizers are tasked to oversee the military coordination, and gather information on each country military capabilities.

EDEN Military Corps – A unified army under direct HQ command

To act as a spearhead for the unified armies of EDEN, each country assigns its strongest and the most active soldiers to a multinational task force known as the EMC. EMC is a unit that consists of soldiers from every member country, and it takes orders directly from the HQ. It's not part of any national army, and soldiers in it take orders primarily from the HQ. Every country donates gold and currency for EDEN as per the amount of soldiers they send to the EMC, and Military Organizers, with the help of EMC squad leaders, supply and command the EMC. EMC acts as a rapid response strike team that deals a lot of damage in short time and represents EDEN in the battlefields. 'Victoria aut mors' is its motto: Victory or death.

_____
Is this the EDEN you see in the real world, or an ideal version of it? You tell me, and present what you consider important in EDEN. I presented EDEN in a nutshell and skipped some parts that belong to it. Maybe a clarification is needed? What do you think is missing from EDEN?

Waiting for your response,
