The Decline And Decline

Day 589, 01:00 Published in Australia Australia by ronnyJnrJnr

A little over a week ago there were certain unfortunate incidents that occurred concerning Eureka Holdings being hacked. I was an employee at the time and was fired, along with everyone else in the company, and was wondering what was going on. Most people in the newsletter were sympathetic to the fact of what had happened, but there were some comments directed at the management implying, and I use the word carefully, that it was password sharing to blame. Now, I'm no computer programmer so I leave that kind of things to the experts, but was a little shocked to read on that this wasn't the first time it had happened.

I was intrigued enough to look for some answers, and decided to start with the comments that stated such actions had occurred. I asked for some proof or links to such things happening but was met with a response of "responsible people have done this before and it will happen again". Great, that's no proof at all. All I can guess is maybe it happened, maybe it didn't, all I know is that Eureka was hacked twice in nearly as many days, both with disastrous consequences for the company, with not a lot of explanation as to why other than being hacked.

I'm not sure admin is on to the problems, but as I'm sure its not just Eureka that has been hacked. Also, with nothing from Mr.Comments concerning the who, what when, where or how, once again, ecitizens are left to fend for themselves with no direction, in a somewhat awkward situation.

This brings me to my next point. The overall decline of eRep population. After reading certain comments it really made me think whether I wanted to actually play this game anymore. My last article asked the question of why the decline, not where have they gone, that's already a given, the more serious question is why are they going??? Stuart B got flamed for proposing a mental health policy, when things like, peoples comments, affect the game and the people who play it. I've only been here short time but dependent on what i see is dependent on how much input I put into the game. I don't have much time, but i can spend 5 minutes a day here to do what has to be done. When I do get time, I like to look around the site to see whats happening and maybe participate in a few activities that are on offer, (mostly reading and typing so far, but maybe I'm not reading the right articles/forums)..

So many other points came out in last fortnights edition and was glad to see so much response from my fellow citizens. The main point of Queensland having no hospital was one of my major concerns. As is my understanding, I need a moving ticket to move and cant really afford that yet, as I'm only low paid newbie with very little skill, so eating is a good choice for me. I can fight, would like to fight, but cant afford the round trip to get the wellness boost. I cant even check how long till the hospital is finished without actually being part of the company. Its fundamental flaws like this that make people frustrated with the game and turn away. Its a simple action, its a public building, we have every right to know when it will be finished, and is valuable information for Queenslanders to have. The other problem that was brought up and i didn't even consider are the dead citizens. I read that they just stay there as dead citizens. If its a bug and its not fixed then fix it, but it appears to be a planned part of the game that makes no sense at all.

Some problems I guess can be fixed by us, others cannot. I said before stop the petty infighting as it really doesn't sit well with a lot of people. We just want to play and worry about other countries, like eIndo, who clearly have goals in eAus, instead of hacking, passwords and snide remarks made towards each other that are defamatory to us all. Get a grip and lets start working our problems out instead of exacerbating them with "I told you so" comments and backyard shenanigans. Grow up I say and maybe we will see eRep be a game that people enjoy coming to, would invite a friend or 3 to join and continues for many years to come.
