This article was edited from the IRC chat that happened at 22:50 erep time day 915. There were slight grammatical edits as well as the editing of answers that were rambling in nature. As well as some clarification to pieces that were added later. Both parties were willing participants in this debate. As the Moderator I have an opinion on whom the better candidate is but will not endorse either side.

Setup-
wahooBob>ok, so at this point only Ben, Stan, Jdr, and myself can talk. Jdr will moderate the debate, asking questions of each candidate, he can request elaborations if he wants.
The debate is between Ben11119 and Stanley Othello.

Mod- Ben what is your approach on foreign affairs?
Ben- I am the ambassador to Pakistan, A former ambassador to Turkey, and a former deputy to Switzerland. I think we need to work with all countries. To try and work things out diplomatically. But in some countries (i.e. Russia) that will not work we need to look at things militarily. But I feel diplomacy should always come first

Mod- Stan what is your approach on foreign affairs?
Stan- Our foreign affairs are a bit shaky due to recent alliances made with certain country's. We should manage tightly who our , our allies and there enemy's. We've been partnering up with a lot of country's lately and we've been backing them up to much choose what country has potential and how they can help us out. (There was some confusion and Stan asked for example I brought up Poland) By the way I would try to improve our relations with Poland since it's population and the hostility we have with them so far.

Mod- Ben Our military needs funding but in order to fund the military we need to increase taxes or take out from other programs. Which programs will you cut or would you rather raise taxes?
Ben- We can’t cut out programs that focus on recruitment/retention. But maybe some minor budget cuts here, some minor cuts there, along with small raises in taxes. We can see what programs we need and see what programs can do with a little less money and then add slightly higher taxes.

Stan- I support instructing player's on how to succeed in the game so... I must say i have to increase in tax and cut some executive fund. Even though I am against increasing taxes I think it's best for us. As I said before I would do what's best for my country and i think that's what's best for my country.

Mod- Ben if you had to serve on a committee which would it be and why?

Ben- Helping noobs is important and retention is very important so I would serve on the domestic committee.
(Due to the confusion I specified for Stan)

Mod- Stan if you had to serve on a committee which would it be and why? Committees are foreign, domestic, budget, and Immigration.
Stan- I would have to say red cross though I fell when I started this game I barely had help and I almost died. I feel it's necessary to support player's with food. Now iIfeel that there aren't enough helpful committee's out there. They really don't teach you what you need to succeed just teach you on how to get by.

Mod- Ben Activity in congress is a big concern. How will you stay active in congress?
Ben- I will stay active in congress by putting other people ahead of me, I will stay and help my fellow people. Realizing that they entrusted me with a responsibility, and I should make sure they get exactly what they expect and not just an empty seat. I will check forums regularly.
I will go in irc to chat with voters. I will vote for the bills after reading about them on forum, and I will record my votes in public

Mod- Stan Activity in congress is a big concern. How will you stay active in congress?
Stan- I'm pretty active on erepublik. Even if i didn't want to play this game i would still play until my congress term is over. I wouldn’t put others ahead of me and give them more work.

Ben- I would Gladly vote for and congratulate the Nebraska Candidate. I would be doing a much greater service to my country getting anyone elected over the Hungarian, Then I EVER could in congress.

Stan- If I read this correctly I am able to win still if I gain one more vote by erepublik day end's.
