The Death of Gold Tanking

I remember 9 months back when sights of people like Romper, Colin, Kualkerr doing close to a million damage in a single mini battle were quite common. These folks used to single handedly win battles while people like me would make their piddly contribution of 30-40 K and watch that getting lost under the heap of someone's gold.

There was clamor all over for limiting gold tanking and the response seen from admins was to limit gold receipt by an individual to 10 G a day (except if you are buying it from admins). The media all over the world was resonating with how the admins screwed up again.

But I guess we all got it wrong. The 10 G limit was not to do with gold tanking but to prevent multi gold issues. Most of the tankers like Romper buy gold from admins directly and that still didnt have any limit.

But then came the sledge hammer. First the FF limit increased to 500 and then to 2400 (if you are a maniac who will get the max out of the daily food limit). That changed the whole ball game. Suddenly gold tanking became 8 times more expensive. Let me explain with an illustration

I personally hit 3000 influence with a single q5 hit. With 300 wellness recovery limit, i would do about 90 K influence in a day a couple months back. An opposing tank like Kualkerr who does 4686 influence per hit, needed just 20 gold hits to counter my 1 day's damage, translating to 10 G in total

Come today, and with the same 3000 influence per hit, I can do 720K per day. And in the same comparison, to counter me, Kualkerr needs to do 160 hits or spend 80G. In a nutshell, the effective cost of gold tanking just shot up by 8 times. Suddenly Gold beasts are only 1/8th of their original selves.. Merely a faint shadow 😉 .

Look at it another way. 3 months back, when a q5 was selling at .5 G, cost of a single food hit with q5 was .15 G and cost of a gold hit was .6 G. So a gold hit was 4 times the cost of a food hit

Today, cost of a single food hit with q5 is 0.0125 G and cost of a gold hit is 0.51 G. A startling 40 times difference. so 40 food hits at the cost of 1 gold hit. So a country would rather have 40 soldiers with 400 influence than 1 super tank with 4000. The 40 noob soldiers will make 4 times the damage than the tanker at the same cost...


Hence the direct impact of gold on battles has diminished significantly. The same is visible in existing world war, where ONE that relies more on many medium to high strength tanks is just breezing thru one EDEN/TERRA country after another.

All said and done, I think admins are much smarter than what we give them credit for. Look at it objectively.. The game is successful when more people join it and not if some people buy a lot of gold (the difference between profitability and short term Profits). And the recent changes in economy and war module have again made the strength of a country directly proportional to the number of citizens it has. With skill factor removed and with 240 fights a day, the tenure in game has suddenly lost a lot of sheen and the ability of noobs to start making an impact faster has suddenly shot up. And with ability to gain 25 strength every day thru gold, a noob can gain in 6 months that earlier took 10 months to gain ..
