Let's talk about Parties

I promised you all I'd explain how parties work. Parties are a kind of strange beast, similar to Congress in that it has a lot of meta workings. Meta, by the way, means interactions outside of the mechanics of the game that are still impactful, such as outside forums and Discord usage. So let's talk about parties in the mechanical sense. What can a party do?

Mechanics and the Party
Parties are the groups that can endorse candidates for Country President, Congress, and hold their own elections. If you want to get in congress you MUST be in a party. Parties during an CP cycle, can endorse a candidate, either putting them on the CP ballot, or add their party to the list to endorse them. Parties also are included in the Congressional elections on the 25th. To appear on the ballot though, they MUST be a Top 5 party. This means that parties in between 5 and 6 are extremely worried about either staying in Top 5 or getting in there, to have Congressional representation. Who decides and runs the Party then? Well that's decided through the Party elections on the 15th. The Party President is elected, who in turn places people on the Cabinet positions. These positions technically do nothing, but have meta significance depending on what the party decides they should do.

The Meta-Party
The party's meta function is to foster new players, and to this end offers services like mentoring, resources, paths to power, and occasionally party MUs, where the party can also help the new player militarily. The meta party is NOT about getting into CP. It's about actually making change in the country, and all parties should strive to help new players. Here's where we move into why you should vote SFP for Congress on the 25th.

Why YOU Should Vote SFP for Congress
Let me talk about my party, the SFP, and how it fulfills these objectives of parties. The SFP took me in when I had no clue what the game was, and instantly helped me out. No bureaucracy, no undemocratic elitism, just honest people helping me out. JFstpierre sent me food packages, Jimmy got me talking with the Chileans and Ilene, and let me run in their primaries even if I wasn't some super experienced player. SFP has programs where you can make 300cc per day, get free housing every week, and honestly everyone there is ready to drop what they're doing to give you a helping hand, even at their own expense.

Cool parties are cool.

SFP Meta and Mechanics
So how does the SFP operate? The SFP uses the game mechanics to pick Party Presidents, we don't have some kind of primary in the forums or whatever. Also, and very importantly, our candidates for Congress are democratically selected. We have a call-in, generally lasting four days, and then an election where people have five votes, which lasts for 2 days. We tally up the votes and then place people in order for Congress. It's a way to really make sure the most supported in the party are allowed in, and has allowed many new players(me} to get in there. Our party has a Committee where we talk about issues and how we solve them, called the Revolutionary Committee. We even have our own party MU, the Bear Cavalry, which gives out its own programs, such as free weapons with no commune required!

It also has the coolest logo

That's probably it for now, tune in next time to hear the SFP's rad positions in Congress! This one'll take the longest so I'll save you the boredom. For now, if you want to help, you should join the SFP and get in on our Discord, shown below. Thanks to y'all for reading and thanks to the SFP for being such an awesome community!

PS. I need the mission for twenty five unique comments, so help me out!
