The Cheese is Stinky, So Avoid the Trap!
http://www.rpgbrain.com/eRepublik/eao/issue4/mousetrapqh2.jpg" align="left" border="1" />An old saying tells us that the first step of avoiding a trap is in knowing that it exists. Since the liberation of North America completed the domestic military goals of the Brolliance, we are entering a period that can become a trap. This trap was recently set by Indonesia attacking Malaysia.
The invasion of Malaysia was justified by the fact that they allow countries from the EDEN/Brolliance (E/
😎to participate in the Sol war games. You might feel that this is simply a way to deny the members of EDEN/Brolliance the means to continue gaining rank for their forces easily. Certainly that is of benefit to PEACE, but it is not a major problem. There are many places that you can fight.
There is a faction in eRepublik that feel any aggressive act toward another country is not justified, unless they are regaining lost native territory. Whether that is "right thinking" is not the subject of this article. We only need to understand that it exists. It has become a powerful, even dominant, factor in eRepublik diplomacy. This school of thought has managed to wrest the moral "high ground" and is seen as the "good" guys in the game.
The Indonesian attacks on Malaysia may deny E/B a place to have training wars; they can also place E/B in a position where we could become "aggressive" in order to train troops. This move has the potential to alter the worldwide perception of the E/B alliance if it is not handled properly. In my mind there are only two strategies that can be used to avoid this trap.
The most obvious strategy is to defeat the Indonesians and resume the Sol war games. This has the benefit of placing another defeat on the record of the PEACE powers, with all the side benefits that would bring to encourage reform inside PEACE. It also shows a commitment by the E/B forces in facing down aggression and strengthens their political position. But it also depends on the leadership of Malaysia to remain resolute. If Indonesia wins or the Malaysians decide to exclude E/B from the Sol war games, this approach will be ineffective.
The fallback plan is simple. We should arrange war games inside of the EDEN/Brolliance community itself. Diplomatic talks should already be talking place to establish such an arrangement. All it would take is a working plan, and the agreement to execute it should the need arise. There is something to be said for having control over when war games will happen.
Either of these approaches avoid the trap that has been placed by Indonesia. But I suggest that making arrangements for holding war games inside of E/B should be done even if the Sol war games continue. Having options is never a bad thing. It also avoids having to swallow the stinky cheese and become overly aggressive just to train troops.

God. That took way too long for you to mention not swallowing stinky cheese.
I would say TL😉R, but I did read it.
I cut most of the history lesson out to shorten it. I will try to make it shorter yet.
Don't worry. You write well and have a good explanation. Ignore the first comment. Some great articles are even longer.
Also, keep in mind that the main point here is to organize our own war games within EDEN/Brolliance. It appears that depending on neutral countries to host these war games will only place them into the crosshairs. A time may come where the neutral countries are no longer willing to host war games because of this. It is best if we are prepared and have all the mechanisms in place top run our own of that happens.
We have already seen a couple of days recently where much of the eUSA population could not fight in a war without relocation. We need to have something that can be done easily to remedy that problem and keep our two-clickers progressing up the ranks.
Why not get Canada (obvious choice) or maybe Mexico (overtures for future alliance) to participate in some war games. I like the idea of keeping it in house. Nice article!
