The Bigger They Are, the Harder They Fall

Day 726, 18:27 Published in USA USA by Cody Franklin

Good evening, my fellow eRepublikans.

You've seen it in ads. You've seen it in the papers. Even the admins couldn't resist making a mention of it in their latest publication.

No matter where you've heard it from, the news it the same: PEACE GC is coming apart.

For over a year, PEACE was the strongest military alliance in history, waylaying and conquering its way through multiple continents, and even driving us to the point of desperation. I'm sure, America, that you have not forgotten how dark things were when our proud nation had its borders brutally beaten back, until almost the entire population of the United States was safely holed up in Florida.

What kept PEACE so strong was its commitment to a common purpose, its burning global patriotism, and the great fun involved in decimating enemy nations. However, when the tide of the North American Wars turned against them, we saw how quick they were to retreat. Retrospectively, it seems like PEACE's gradual downfall was nothing short of inevitable.

Recently, Indonesia and Ukraine (among others) have abandoned this so-called "Global Community" in favor of pursuing their own interests, no longer satisfied with the way in which PEACE operates. If you recall, Indonesia was a nigh-invincible powerhouse, more powerful than Hungary and Russia combined. With so many countries abandoning PEACE, including the former war machine, it's likely only a matter of time before more countries follow suit.

What does this mean for our world, America?

For many of the countries leaving the Global Community, EDEN, an increasingly potent alliance, seems to be the best option. From the American point of view, EDEN stands for the kind of justice and righteousness of action that PEACE originally promised its members before it embarked on its mission of conquest. With EDEN's newly-acquired power, we can only hope that this alliance does not become excessively militaristic, like its spiritual predecessor. It's like Harvey Dent remarked in The Dark Knight: "You either die a hero, or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain." While PEACE may have started with the noblest of intentions, we can clearly see the stains of corruption, infighting, and petty politics that have plagued the alliance for a long time. We must take every precaution to ensure that EDEN does not end up becoming the very thing that it is trying so hard to eliminate.

In the end, it's necessary for us to learn from PEACE's gradual-but-noisy breakup. The statement that "the bigger they are, the harder they fall" definitely holds true now, more than ever. In its prime, PEACE exemplified the pinnacle of military power, and political efficiency. However, once one reaches the peak of achievement, the only direction left is back down again, and PEACE's descent is leaving visible scars. It is for this reason that EDEN must be kept in check. No matter how quickly the alliance grows, or how well all of the member nations coexist, nothing lasts forever. PEACE has shown us all that nothing is permanent, no matter how powerful. This fact is undeniable - and, whether you're part of PEACE, or EDEN, or a neutral nation, remember: truth takes no sides.
