THE ALLIES HAVE DONE IT AGAIN: VICTORY IN NUNAVUT

Recap

In an astounding last-minute victory, the eUSA and foreign auxiliary troops have once again snatched the Canadian Bacon from the jaws of defeat—and the Hungary Hippos. Spraying lead faster than a Gatling gun, the Allies took the wall, which stood at +318,722, down to -242,370 in the final 20 minutes.

A rough (home-made) graph of the battle, while we await the official version, can be seen below.

Similarly, the youtube recap of the last fifteen minutes is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q8TMdnoFvB4 .

Data

Pretty impressive. Among the parties involved on the American side were the Spanish, the Croatians, the Romanians, and the Fins . Pearlswine played hero for the Allies, pummeling the wall with 39716 damage, while BattalGazi played foil, with 38799 damage for the Huns.

Analysis

The eUSA and friends could only win this battle by sheer numbers. Hungary heavily out weighs the US in Lieutenants, Captains, Colonels, Generals, and Field Marshals. The US currently holds a staggering 69% Privates. These numbers showed up in the fight, as Hungary hit for 50% more than the US in each hit.

I have to assume that the Federal Government knew that they faced a long-shot in winning this battle (after looking at those statistics) without 1) help from friends and 2) a little skullduggery*. So, instead of relying on brute force, they utilized superior organization and gambled on a late surge. As Manitoba proved, this tactic could be—and once again would be—effective.
(*Hyphenated’s Word of the Day:Look it up. Dictionary.com)

The eUS actually probably did more damage than could be expected, considering the dearth* of strength in the country at the moment. Credit, of course, goes to people like Ligtreb, Eugene Harlot, Killing Time, Chocolate McSkittles and his USA Welcoming Committee who spewed Q1 weapons left and right to the point where I think they could be considered the first eRepublik Athletes.
(*Bonus Word of the Day. You lucky dog.)

As a side bonus, weapons prices have spiked during the battle, although less than usual. Rather than supplies running low and thus owners charging more, it seems that the manufacturers artificially inflated prices. This was in large part combatted thanks to allied production and exportation of Q1 weapons from other nations.

The Allies managed to keep initiative in their favor, pushing Hungary to the brink of extinction on the North American Continent. The Huns' remaining toe hold in Alaska, however, may remain for the foreseeable future as a buffer to the Russians. Whether and when the eUS chooses to reclaim Alaska, however, is at the Federal Government's leisure because any agression by the Huns will activate Canada or the US' many MPPs.

The question looming on the horizon for both sides now seems to be: Now What?
