I've never heard of this yuvy15 guy so I wouldn't call him our "grand inquisitor," but you should follow the rules, Jewyoyo. It doesn't hurt at all to post in a thread that you know citizens X and Y are "ok" and that they should be approved.

If KM's don't make an example of the rules, why should others? You're setting a bad example; you have so many facts about these people so why didn't you write a thread for the immigration committee?

There is something to be said for following the rules. I'm not saying the Committee should be ignored. I approved those two when I was not very active on the forums (i.e. summertime). By not very active, I mean I barely ever went on the forums because I was busy with my RL job. During that month, I went out on a limb and approved two people I know very well in this game, Livelie and PedjaT, without the Committee's approval. (gasp). What I saw when I picked up activity this month was a tirade of insults directed at me and calls to prevent me from ever getting re-elected to congress. Draw your own conclusions.

I'm merely saying that if you'r going to take the time to approve two citizens, do it the right way and follow the due process. As a KM, you should be agreeing with that statement and my previous one that you should set an example. That's all I mean to say.

Thain, I know you never insulted me, I was referring to posts by Matanb and Ohad Sella in the Immigration Committee forum. And yes, I agree with those statements. However I'm not inclined to work with a committee that is so quick to label me an idiot for not following exact protocol and letter of the law.

Funny that matanb called you that Jewyoyo. Being one himself he should be an expert on the matter...

I think the whole committee needs to chill out some. Not every person applying is a spai. Most likely the majority are not. The true weakness in our defenses against PTOs are not current citizens moving here so much as new multis being created. And no, I am not saying we need to stop investigating people. I am saying the current committee peeps need to step back, take a breath, and stop being so freakin paranoid about every person who applies. They've turned down several awesome dedicated players for absolutely no reason whatsopever beyond "I have a feeling" in the face of very persuasive evidence that the person in question was not a problem. And don't even get me started on how many truly amazing people the current powers that be have run off with their delusional rantings. I've known more than a few who have said something along the lines of "eIsraeli's are insane" before leaving to go elsewhere. Or leaving the game entirely.

I was in the immigration committee last session. Like 4 or 5 people were active there (when the entire Knesset is able to post). If you guys want to make it better, show up! All it takes is three "YES" votes for a citizenship request for us to be able to move to accept them. Make yourself heard!

@Thain yuvi15 is supposedly the comptroller general, elected in the term before I was in the Knesset. We never elected a new one last term. It was done back when Gavin was all gung-ho about witch-hunting people.

@Mae You saw the thread about the most recent citizenship request. I think we should debate the requests in the main (private) section of the Knesset board, rather than in the citizenship committee. It is best when all people contribute to the discussion, and I think that will help avoid situations where parties/factions fight to chair the committee or get the most members on. We should all take part, but raise the numbers of "yes" votes required up.

I wouldn't take their political posturing (yes, that's just the basic term for this kind of political brow-beating) seriously.

Jewyoyo may not have followed rules, but he didn't accept completely unknown people, and didn't feel the need to go through the Knesset or investigation committee in order to bring those two perfectly innocent citizens into eIsrael. I have done the same in the past in eIreland, but definitely not to the extreme insults from fellow congressmen.

A TD once elected, has almost full autonomy to create laws and accept citizenship... And if everyone had to wait for the whole committee to accept law proposals and citizenship requests at all times, there would be too much time wasted. I know this from a long history of experience.

If we make rules, then we should follow them.

I agree that some of the language used by the committee chair is in appropriate, and that perhaps the mode of inquiry should start first with whether trusted citizens can vouch for an applicant.

But I think Ohad and matanb are right to request that rules are followed.

If we think the rules are too stringent or too complicated, then by all means let's have a debate about making it simpler. But whilst we have rules, let's stick to them.

I think that's a very reasonable conclusion to this discussion - and we can now close it with lessons learned from both sides:

Jewyoyo - you should have followed the agreed rules/process before approving citizenship.

Others - we should have asked Jewyoyo first and as a respected longstanding citizen of this country we should have put strong favour based on his recommendation.

I suggest that there is no further argument on this topic, and that there should be no further action against Jewyoyo - he's been criticised enough and I'm sure he's understood the lesson from all this.

It's your mistake,the committee should check the player and after that to approve his citizenship.
