The 'real' reality check!
Nithraldur
First off… Hi there, I’m Nith!
Most of you know me, so I’m going to skip that section and while we’re at it.. come completely clean. I am currently a congressman for Ireland, but alas, I must admit I have not contributed as much as I used to in the old days..but then again..there’s nothing for me to vote on anyway. However, reasons for this are plentifold, which I will elaborate further on. I am also aware that people would call me ‘inactive’. Lucky for me, there are plenty of people around who see and talk to me daily, since I still maintain a large portion of Ireland’s IRC’s, so I can safely say…if you thought I was away, joke’s on you. Thought you got rid of me, did ya?
Stick around, because this is not only about me, au contraire, it nearly completely isn’t. Perhaps this is the time to issue a caution to some. If your toes are exceedingly long, I’d advise not to read on. Or if you like life on the edge, do continue.
Reality comes ‘a knockin’
So as you’ve probably read a few times now, we’ve lost Northern Ireland…again. Of course we all knew this would happen sooner or later, looking at the sheer number difference and the new module which gladly favours said numbers. However, I’ve noticed a deeper problem. Allow me to indulge you in an actual part of my eLife… Under the ‘command’ – and I use that term very loosely – of President Nogin were we allowed to partake in a few select battles, not counting the ‘unreal’ ones. Suddenly, under the pressure of several (or was it just 1?) citizen(s), we launched our offensive against the Brits, once again. If this idea was well thought through I will leave to you, my reader, but I have my sincere doubts.
Offensive you say? Well…sure, there was an offensive, heck, we even won the battle. How we managed that…beats me actually, because I was stomped. Nonetheless, I remained proud of the accomplishment. However, this does bring up an issue.. In this major battle for the ownership of the Northern part of OUR island, I noticed – and it saddens me to say this – that there is actually, NO coordination or communication between the Irish troops WHATSOEVER.
Maybe I’m wrong.. maybe people did receive weaponry and funds..but maybe they didn’t. I can only attest for my personal experiences during this whole time. I personally am a Veteran* (11) Field Marshal and didn’t receive as much as a single shell in ANY of the battles we waged…not even the life – or – death ones (Yeah, we like to call it that don’t we..) we had against the Redcoats. Of course, in case you were wondering, I did use the appropriate channels and I did follow orders (on the rare occasion that these orders did exist, and where they mostly consisted of pulling a Captain Obvious on me, asking me to fight FOR Ireland…*duh*…. anyone?). The times of facepalm – reckoning be upon us.
I wondered.. didn’t we have several weaponry companies? Didn’t we own a food company that was alledgedly built to sustain our tanking? Where did all those resources go? Or wait… maybe they were ran so ineffectively that the ‘stock’ they held was severely insufficiënt and could only sustain a few of President Nogin’s more favoured captains?
Perhaps..who’se to say..definately not me because these issues are kept safely inside the government (= a land FAR FAR away?), only to be glanced upon by the precious ‘patrons’ of our country, the nearly self – proclaimed elite that we seem to have developed over the last month(s).
Now you may start calling me the instigator of more infighting. I wish I was that, really. If I were, our problems would be far easier to solve and we could continue fighting wars where we can’t expect to win. Sadly, the case is that we are being lulled into this melody of prosperity, valour and bravoure, by the people who wish to use this shroud of propaganda to their own advantage. Might we even go as far as call it the launching pad of a new presidential campaign? If we do, then we have no other option but to regard Nogin’s closest advisors as the people with access to – at least – moderate resources or intelligence, which allows them a sizeable head start over their competition.
I only ask for the people of Ireland to look at their own experiences, to reflect on what they have endured the last month and see for themselves if I’m sailing blind or not. Make up your own mind, don’t let it be indoctrinated by the flashy media adverts and the pretty looking ‘go Ireland go me’ articles. It will soon matter, when your vote decides if you will be the puppet..once again…or perhaps be the puppeteer?
I must commend these people though. What? Stop looking at me like that, I’ve not gone insane. They really are to be commended. It’s been a long time since I’ve witnessed such a professional show, bravo. *applauds* But now really, even the best shows go off the air. Why Nith, what show are you talking about?
Exactly that. The fact that you must ask me this question, or atleast think it, is the success of this show. They have managed to not only hide their mistakes, errors and failures, but they have also managed to turn it around into a major hoax of how well run Ireland is these days. Truth of the matter is, we are not well run. We are not well organised and we sure as hell do not own a professional army. Recently we were put up for membership of EDEN, in fact, we can even vote soon in order to get in, or out. To all congressmen out there, PLEASE, vote YES. Maybe the EDEN fellas can teach us a thing or two about organisation and about military skills, because we sure are lacking them. I dare to say this because, the only effect we’ve had on the battlefield is because of the gold that was spent by particular people, by solo actions, maybe slightly coordinated with a select few. I can only cheer for these actions, but again, these things look pretty but do not win us the war.
I am severely disgusted about the way we are being treated. The worst part is, some of us don’t even realise it. It’s like they are stealing the bread of your plate and you remain unaware. Or even worse, you thank them for it. People of Ireland, use your wits. Have we progressed? Let’s take a look…
At the start of this ‘new dawn’, we were instantly set back by the loss of several organisations and a heap of gold. I will not expand on who’se responsible for what. The only thing I wish to highlight is that it has caused us a huge setback. The time it took for us to establish, recover and progress is by itself a disadvantage. A disadvantage that costed us badly in the latest battle. How the transfer of passwords and the changing of an email account is so difficult is beyond me, and I’ve endured the progress 4 times myself.
Our economy was supposed to crack itself up. Granted, miracles in this case or not possible. However, the main focus these days is to make money out of… war… War means, weapons will be sold. Weapons sold means revenue. Revenue means eventual money for the state. But.. where are the wars? I can hear you thinking..hypocrite.. you condemned the attack on the Brits yourself.. False. I do not condemn it. I say it was a spur of the moment initiative. It did not have a well devised plan, nor did it have a real tactic, nor did it have a failsafe, nor did it have a real purpose, aside from getting our island back. Too bad that when things look too good to be true, they usually are.
Do not start something you can’t finish. Buckling under pressure is something a President is never allowed to do, not if it’s not in the best interest of it’s nation. You are President to protect the people and the country. You are not President to protect yourself. In this position, you will take hits. The key to success is to roll with the punches, not throw a new coat of paint on it, tuck your head in the sand and hope nobody noticed. Sadly, it got noticed.. But hey, time for plan B, you say. If I’m down, I might as well push up one of my friends and see if (s)he can take my seat. That way we still might get to run things by ourselves and sit back in our sofa, watch the Irish workers squirm while we reap what they sow and throw back some of the leftovers. Who knows, they might even love us (again) for it.
When the fat lady sings…
Perhaps this wasn’t the best time for me to write this, but the aggravations were just too great. There’s plenty more that I can throw around, many more facts that the ‘bourgeoisie’ doesn’t really want to have the people hear, it might actually undermine their little privately run particracy. In fact, I think I can hear that little black Montgomerian government van pulling up right now…
As part of my temporary goodbye.. I leave you with these words…
Sincerely
Odd Nith
Now where did I leave that anvil and my ha…oh wait…there it is..
Comments
Yeah I was there looking for food during the NI battle and a little back on my tax dollars, but there was little to supply and nobody there...
We need a right kick and change to get this country going again!
Well done. Great article
Sad to see an experienced player resorting to mud slinging, i thought at your age we'd have got past that, maybe its a dummy you need not an anvil.
the First battle was co-ordinated, the troops were informed of when to fight and the allies were involved and not surprisingly we won, tactics in V2 was the name of the game.
as for the Uk counter attack, with the change in the battle module we had no chance of holding it, but weapons and food (the State Q3 company had only started to operate) were given out by the MOD to the troops, who had to be pm'd using the old battle system as the API was off line, who made a valiant effort in the face of overwhelming numbers.
All troops who turned up were treated equal, there is no difference in how the lowest to the highest troops were treated in respect to supplies, and i resent the implication that there was - provide facts not fiction.
As for protecting the people and moving Ireland ahead, well our the first stage and is under debate in the private Dail now, and a TW is scheduled for the weekend if the other country's commitments allow it.
Mud slinging.. is that what we're calling opening up the facts these days..? You got it right though, I must be getting old.
Like I've written...tactics...? Think I must run off and check my mailbox again, maybe the mailman got held up in the partybuilding?
Cheerio
Cronyism is alive and well in the upper echelons of our Government it seems.
I find this really funny seeing Nogin was very vociferous in her condemnation of IDF not giving out weapons during the war we had during Edana Savages term last February.
Lets look after ourselves first seems to be the message here and damn the rest of them.
Ill be voting for Connell on the 5th
Considering we had the non transfer of passwords for the first few days of term, and the destruction of all the states company's and resource company's and the theft of the gold, and very little help in recovering it from erep admins (still waiting on answers to tickets) we did as well as could be expected with what we had.
Wait connells running for cp?
lolwat
Cocaine is a hell of drug Nith.
Much needed, another great article from Nith.
Wouldn't know Donovan, we down here don't have the funds for it. Is that what's being grown in the food co?
Couldn't tell you bro. In my time in eIreland I've only received 2 Q1's and that was from TopGun about a year ago. I finance myself.
Fancy making this about you? 'Tis true what they say, really, the key is to use the right bait.
Nith is right about the lack of supplies for the recent lose of NI. I was in #IDFSupply and there was troops asking for something to fight with but nobody was supplying, DT said he had no access to the IDF orgs which is insane for the MoD not too. The DoD article was very below par aswell, two lines was wrote...nothing about joining the rooms that the IDF have available?
and thats why you should all join the ICA.
Any blame to the lack of organization or communication of the IDF falls on my shoulders and not that of Noggin. I will be the first to admit that things could have/could be done better. An API messaging system went down right at the start of the battle and necessitated mass mailings in order to keep the times we were to mass our fights against the wall from the UK. But the IDF had been reorganized around the V2 battle style not the old style where numbers thrown against a wall are all that matters. So against the UK and five allies what chance did we have? None. I know that I could not stay on IRC the entire fight. Gaps in supply occurred. I am sorry. I think we did well despite the circumstances. Not as well as I would have liked but not a total disaster.
But the characterization of the Administration as elitists or only supplying a favored few is not true. Like Donovan I took no weapons from the armory. I am not our for recognition or money. I gave my own gold our freely to people who asked that I talked to. I am doing this for Ireland, not for myself.
Anthony, for you I'll make an exception. I believe that you are in the clear about this and your conscience is indeed at ease. I believe you have done your best.
Nith, in all sense of fairness, and all jokes aside, I have no problem with any opinion you may have about the current administration, but one certain line makes me take a bit of offence...
"could only sustain a few of President Nogin’s more favoured captains?"
Would you be so kind as to show via any donation list screen shots how this is based in fact? Or at least state that it is mere conjecture?
After giving away personal gold and roughly 400 health points worth of food (Donated by Tinja) I find it rather rude that you might state that members of the government were receiving the favor of the state when the people were not.
@Marcus, true, at that moment I did not have the password to the specific org you mentioned held Heli's during your time as MoD. That is a mistake on the part of myself and the cabinet as we relied to heavily on Anthony and should have helped him more.
DT as MoD you know yourself you should have all supplies ready when any battle starts no excuses. Was it not rifle's as well...I do remember a few saying they had to fight barehanded and I asked do they want a tank and rifle I had spare.
@Marcus
Fully agree. There are no excuses for that, only reasons. Although I was personally encouraging people (above the rank of colonel) to fight barehanded as the new war mod algorithm makes use of weapons a waste since it still takes two hits to kill (which can be done barehanded for most of sufficient rank).
Sounds like me and Connell will have the run of the elections this time.
Too bad, EFTS was looking good until I realized the amount of cronyism involved.
I still don't see how cronyism is involved. That would mean that Nogin placed her close friends in positions of responsibility that they were not suited for. Before last month I had spoken to Nogin a handful of times. Donovan also. The other members of the Administration are very capable servants of Ireland and have done extremely well in this term and in the past. I have probably the least experience but still think my activities were at least on par with past MoDs. I always think I have not done enough. I always second guess if I have done the right thing. But I was not handed the job because I was a "crony" or as a reward for loyalty and no one else was either.
Like I said before. If someone wants to blame anyone for the loss of Northern Ireland blame me. No excuses, MY responsibility. Not Nogins, not the rest of the Cabinet. Mine.
One thing you said in your article nith, before i mention it, i respect you. I respect you as a fellow party member and a long serving irishmon. This article shocked me.
The objective of taking North Ireland was NOT a spur of the moment thing. It was carefully planned and set up for a week. The reason we won the battle was fantastic communication displayed by the FA team and nogin with our allies.
The Department was set up for V2 this term, you can't fault something that was not prepared for v1..
Nith, I actually read the whole thing!
I would be interested in factual evidence of how you came to this conclusion. I can't say one way or another since I've not been here all that much. But I do know Donovan and I've gotten to know Nogin. I just don't see them doing something like that.
What I did see was Anthony working his arse off to make sure everyone was messaged. I saw Sean Power posting a link on how to fight, and Donovan reposting it for people to read. I saw advice given. I saw an active administration trying to make the best of a crappy situation.
Now, love, you are entitled to your opinion, and if this is what you are doing. Have at it. It's your paper, you can cry if you want to. But if you are wanting me to buy what you are selling, I need to see the facts.
Personally, I think you are still sore about DT stealing your thunder with the whole Hammvilgate thingy that happened during the last campaign. Come on.... admit it. 😉
Still love you! Do you love me like Marmite? 😉
As you might notice (but hopefully did not), Ireland has lost many state companies and gold at the beginning of previous month.
Criticizing lack of supply and/or coordination is something but implying cronyism is another thing. In that case, we feel free to ask the base of your accusations ie proof.
And for NI battle, with previous system allowing strategical depth and coordinated attack, even it was still difficult it was possible to hold NI even under an attack.
But with this 'new' system, it is just about number of citizens. When it is combined with the eager of trying the new thing (especially at the lack of wars) it is no wonder we lost NI. But the point is you can't blame someone for not taking precautions for something they don't know to be happen.
It is no longer surprise for anyone even they change this.
A). I would vote for joining EDEN; I completely support it.
😎. I think our government wasn't completely ready for the new tactics of "Regression" even though it was available a few days before. We need to restructure around the new tactics of mass attacks and much needed food. Weapons are to be stocked is massive quantities especially q1s. It is very much the old wall with a more personal touch.
C). I support Connell CP bid next election because I know he can fix this. I completely trust this brotha which I can not say of anyone else in eIreland.
This has the potential for a nice and heated exchange of articles
Fire it away boys and girls.
A real political election contains tears and backstabbing. This certasinly has potential for being a real election.
*lays back and watches with interest*
Some things you say make some sense to me...but the overall theory, well sorry but it sounds like cynical nonsense.
People calm down
There is no need for a militairy now anymore with reintroduction of the wall
Ireland is surrounded by USA, Canada and UK
USA and Canada are allies
USA, Canada and UK have like 5 times the population of Ireland
So even if we would fight all with Q5 weapons and the UK barehanded (even without 5MPPs) we wouldnt be able to defeat them without spending thousands of gold on noobtubes
@AC "but still think my activities were at least on par with past MoD's." On par with who...hardly near the work I done...I made sure if someone else from IDF Senior Command wasnt online Id stay on till what ever hour it took. Why if you cant be online was there not someone assigned to supply?
It seems I've really had it wrong about you all this time Nith - what with your reaction to Donovan's pre-election 'hammer-type' article and now this distinctly butthurt 'analysis' of the current regime, I think you've become very cynical in your old age.
You have to remember, it's been a difficult month and in FACT (remember these?) the office should be commended for picking up the pieces of a sh*tty start and gettin it together enough to take N. Ireland.
I used to look up to you man.
"There’s plenty more that I can throw around, many more facts that the ‘bourgeoisie’ doesn’t really want to have the people hear, it might actually undermine their little privately run particracy."
Please enlighten us oh wise one.
The facts..didn't I state out of my own personal experience..? If you want evidence, check my donations. It's pretty empty.. 🙂
To all the people claiming cynical nonsense, good for you, enjoy the show 😉
Throwing things like 'the new system' back at me is complete bollocks. We were not the only ones faced with the new system, our enemies endured the same. Fact is, we attacked just for the sake of attacking. No plan, no weapons, nothing. I'm sorry but I can't advocate nonsense which is only meant to protect those at fault.
Don't get me wrong, I've got nothing against making mistakes, we all make those. What I do have something against is the making of mistakes, whilst making the effort to portray them as excellence, with the intent of persuading more people to your side. That, is what disgusts me.
I know that Mr. Colby was alone on the distribution end. However, this doesn't suddenly make it alright. In fact, it makes the light shine even worse on the administration, that such understaffing was allowed to take place in times of conflict. Tsk Tsk.
Cheerio
Oh and please, could everyone stop trying to make this look like I'm *butthurt* or something. Maybe you all don't realise but this is a game. Game's are for enjoyment. You'll have to get up way earlier if you want to *butthurt* me.
The matter a fact is, and I feel I have to say this because I'm getting tired of the nonsense people spit out about me and Donovan, I couldn't care less about the personal intentions of Mr. Thomas, since he means as much to me as any other common man. So, you can lock up that pretty little 'argument' because it's just making you look whiney.
Cheers
It's quite strange though that all the ones opposed to this article just happen to be the ones that are all in on it together.. or is that just pure coincidence..? Hmmmm...
Nith, it's no 'argument' - your article weighs heavily against Donovan Thomas since he's the one running for Prez.
"Sadly, the case is that we are being lulled into this melody of prosperity, valour and bravoure, by the people who wish to use this shroud of propaganda to their own advantage. Might we even go as far as call it the launching pad of a new presidential campaign?'
I take it you are talking about DT here.
But hey, time for plan B, you say. If I’m down, I might as well push up one of my friends and see if (s)he can take my seat. That way we still might get to run things by ourselves and sit back in our sofa, watch the Irish workers squirm while we reap what they sow and throw back some of the leftovers.
You imply that Nogin is havin a hard time and will now somehow 'push' DT to the throne?
Not to mention the title of your article is a play on the title of his recent article announcing the run for CP.
Now Nith, for 'just any other common man' he seems to be quite central to your annoyance.
hoax? Maybe, but a point on the IDF.
Nogin came into office with some real bad luck. The lost of gold and companies alike. There the jugdments should not be made but be made from what we did after.. and Nith is right to point out how battle ready we were. We had enough resources to invade and take NI, but not enough to hold it. The new system put every fighter (including the Brits) on the back foot so I agree that is not an excuse. To invade we should have had the foresight to make sure we could hold NI, and perhaps we fell short on that.
Nogin has had alot of encouragement (rightfully so) and maybe not enough people telling what she could do better. I respect Nith for bringing some balance to the whole thing.
Even if a bit harsh.
*bang*
That hammer hurts 😮
when we took N.Ireland it was in the V2 battle system, it called for planning and thats what we did, we planned, co-ordinated, waited for the right conditions and attacked at a time that we felt would be to our advantage - 3am Irish/UK time and won fair and square, the first time the UK lost N.Ireland to us, we got off other country's before, but never from the UK.
When we first attacked, the V1 battle system didn't exist, short of buying a crystal ball or tarot cards, how were we to know that it would be loaded in the UK's favour?.
Life is all about opportunities, we took ours and succeeded, if the 2nd battle had still been V2 and tactics based, who knows, maybe we might still have it.
the point is we did it, and had fun doing it, isn't that what this game is all about.
Whether it's v1, v2 or v2.5. The supplying of weapons would work in the same way. That is the point and there's no getting away from that.
Supposing Nith is annoyed or Butthurt about something is truly silly idea. Anyone who actually read the article could see that it is presented in a most eloquent manner.
The supplies in the 2nd battle werent up to scratch but we did get orders for the 1st one. I think that this administration has been on a par with previous ones. However Marcus is the best MoD I have seen in any of the armies I have been in, an active and approachable player who will always get his hands on supplies for troops.
Great article.
H.S Thompsons comments. +1, couldn't agree more. Well put.
@Nogin
The new version does favour numbers, yes. But then when we were losing the battle, we did not have enough resources to counter. Troops had limited supplies, and some troop were not even getting supplies.
You've done good work, and I disagree with Nith that this was all a show. But the companies, the stocks, the resource were not ready. Add a quote:
"if you know your enemies and know yourself, you can win a hundred battles without a single loss.
If you only know yourself, but not your opponent, you may win or may lose.
If you know neither yourself nor your enemy, you will always endanger yourself"
We did not know our strength and perhaps not enough about the enemy. I understand that an opportunity was taken, but pot shots won't win this war. Its just one issue which could have gone better, not saying you've messed up or anything.
A Colby has nothing to apologies for - you putting in a hugh amount of effort
