Thank you, South Dakota!

Day 584, 06:30 Published in USA USA by Robert Bayer

I'd like to thank my fellow South Dakotans, the United Independents Party, the Socialist Freedom Party and my fellow party members, and the American people as a whole.

Now that the Socialist Freedom Party -- the largest socialist party in the United States and tenth largest overall -- has a seat in Congress again, we can finally get down to business. Both myself and my party will fight hard for the citizens of South Dakota and the American people. I will work to keep value-added taxes low, establish health relationships with other nations, intervene elsewhere when necessary, and ensure our national defense.

I hope to work together with the Green and Democratic parties, and the UIP, to get truly left-of-center sixth-party candidates elected to Congress. It is unfortunate, but we live in a world in which one party wields almost unchecked control over national policy. It is my goal, and the goal of many others with whom I plan to work, to move towards a more democratic national culture.

This is not to say that the USWP doesn't have anything important to offer -- undoubtedly, it has done great things for this country -- but when one party need not put forth persuasive arguments to have their candidates elected, that's problematic. I believe -- like John Stewart Mill did -- that the best ideas emerge only when there is legitimate dissent and debate.
