Tell me YOUR thoughts!
HeadmistressTalia
Moishe made a very good point in the congressional forums today - we in congress are a pretty insular group - we talk amongst ourselves, but we don't really solicit your opinions.
So....
What do YOU think about taxes? Where is YOUR pain? Is there too much foreign competition? Are you doing fine? So you absolutely hate the VAT on food?
Please, I want to represent you to the best of my ability - but to do so I need to know what you want!

Well I think Taxes should be lower, regardless of the theft we got to make do with what we got. I think all around we should generally lower the taxes. The more money we got in our pockets the more that goes into the economy. The less money we got the less that goes into the economy and hurts it. Real life is a good example. As people cut back on spending it hurts the economy and then we have to cut back more and it hurts the economy badly again and it is this endless cycle that spins out of control. Maybe im the only one who believes it but I think lower taxes would help the economy, though not our money issue but again we got to make due with what we got. If that means lowering spending and suspending salaries then oh well. We shouldn't pay for a Government that won't control it's pocket!
Income taxes of 20% are too high on workers. 2 out of every 10 dollars to the government come on... How can workers be expected to rise above with out money?
I just saw Moishe's post and he is right. I applaud you for doing this H.M.Talia. I hope more follow your lead.
Oh yea raise the import tax. 30-35% should be a fair compromise imho.
Voted. 'scribed. Obviously someone that cares about the people that elected them.
i can barly afford q1 bread and i earn 1.99 USD
I'm not a big tax fan. But with less taxes we bring in less money. Which means we have to cut our expenses. Either stop buying as many hospitals/DS which affects those of you in construction jobs, or don't go to war. Is it worth taxes to have these options open? If not, what do we give up?
John just work 3 more days, you will get to skill 2,
you can get a job for 8 usd then.
Or move to Denmark, where food is as cheap as .90 DKK!
thx qumini i was gunna but it tells me that i have to wait
Nobody is a fan of taxes, but they are still needed.
Hopefully this article stirs up some good discussion.
inflation?
Lower the dam taxes! It's my money!
We shouldn't be paying for the Government because they have an itchy palm. Regardless of war or hospitals I refuse to cover the cost or at least cover it at ridiculous rates.
whats the current rate?
where we are at is not a ridiculous rate. I think too many people are too hung up are RL and confusing it with erep. You know where the real problem is? The fact that workers control the market. Job hopping is a severe problem. It is not taxes that kill a company, it is the worker having the power over the employer. Thus employers have to fight for workers. Too many of you bring real life into erep. I hate taxes, but bite it, and seperate RL from erep.
Wasn't there a recent Q2 weapons dump by Japanese based "Aegis Weapons and Manufacturing"? Seems like a good enough reason to raise import taxes, if only temporarily.
It takes 24 hours for a tax to come into effect. Do you think they're going to keep dumping weapons long enough for this to make a difference?
Eh, good point. I guess just seeing companies with names such as "DON'T BUY FROM AEGIS" tend to make the situation seem like more of an issue than it is.
And now that I think about it...there are no wars going on anyway, so it's not like the weapons industry is particularly hopping at the moment.
but it dosent hurt to be ready...we should be working on in/e😜orts
Define "working".
@ Tsar Your right about one thing and that is that job hoping is very troublesome for employers. However I have to say that a smart business owner does not set him or her self up to fail by following the trends in wages simply to have employees. A smart business owner rewards his loyal employees and some of them will stick around. The thing is that you can not control where a person decides to work either here or in RL. They will do what they want to do and here just like real life, they have to like where they work if they are going to stay. In ruff times dont get trigger happy with firing people, the ones that do not work do not cost you anything and in fact they help you by increasing your productivaty for the ones that do work. So treat the good ones well and carry a few dead beats and your all good. Thats what I do and every company i have is profitable even in this economy. I do not make much but I can keep the bills paid.
changing updating fixing
Lower Taxes.... Its Killing America.
Raise Import Taxes. Let us develop our own domestic economy and industries.
Well John, I didn't realize that having a trade surplus was something that needs to be fixed.
noobs are starving under these taxes
yes it kinda is a big deal
Lester: I'm not.
John: Explain?
if we cant balsnce it then well owe nations money
i'm all for the taxes, because they help the country to RUN! ... but 20% income tax on food businesses is too much i think
I think you're thinking of a trade deficit here.
sorry got my terms mixed up 😁
but yeah defict
But the latest printing by the Jewitt Report shows that the eUS has the highest trade surplus out of any of the ATLANTIS membernations.
Lower Taxes, raise Import Taxes except for resources we have only medium resources in such as Iron and diamonds. Perhaps reinstate a small weekly stipend for our active military to aid them in maintaining their wellness, or purchase of a weapon every once in a while.
Meh, my companies get run out of bussines by established foreign companies because of the low import tax then get punished by the feds again when I try to pull out my money because of the stupid income tax.
Most countries have the import tax high and the income tax low. We have it backwards.
All I know is that when import taxes are lower then income taxes it seems like the government is putting outside companies ahead of actual Americans.
Obviously taxes HAVE to come down. But that also means SPENDING has to come down too.
Lowering taxes is Always a good idea.
