Friends known and unknown,
I am declaring my intention to represent you in Congress from the great state of Arkansas!
I'm a Master Sergeant in the U.S. Training Corps, an aspiring writer, and an active participant in the AMP.
As a freshman Congressman, I would heed the wisdom of the veteran members while adding my own thoughts where they are relevant. I understand people often try to fix something which isn't really broken, so I hope to steer a course of simplicity.
Congress is about taxes.
While we wait for the release of the next version of eRepublik, retention has been slipping. Furthermore, people don't seem to play as regularly over the holidays. We need to make sure we have enough tax revenue coming in to offset these problems.
I confess I am not a tax expert, but I promise to read and listen carefully. It seems the prevailing wisdom is that higher income taxes are often better, since most involved citizens know to commune and thus dodge the 'taking'.
Congress is about alliances.
Congress has the power to approve alliance proposals sent from a Country President. These proposals must be voted up (or down) in a timely fashion so as to avoid disrupting battle output.
Congress is about respect.
Not to go all Aretha Franklin on my readers, but it seems like the political arena often lacks a sense of mutual respect. Let's see if we can't improve that.
Congress is about YOU.
All members of the Legislative Branch are your elected representatives. Tell potential candidates what you expect from them! Make your voices heard! If you send me to Congress, I promise to listen to your voices!
