TC Education: What is influence?

Day 1,271, 09:45 Published in USA USA by Synesi

Your influence is your direct contribution to a mini-battle. It is the sum of the players’ influence on both sides since the start of a mini-battle which determines the position of the blue bar and in the end who will win the mini-battle. Your influence is displayed on the battle page (see picture below).

Here is a few things you should always keep in mind when fighting:

- First, you only gain influence when you kill an enemy, not when you merely hit it without killing it. Thus, it is useless to keep hitting an enemy you won’t be able to kill (for example because your health is too low and you won’t be able to heal to continue fighting)

- Second, your health doesn’t not enter into the calculation of your influence. Thus you don’t have to heal each time you hit someone. Pay attention to your health when fighting though, you don’t wanna get stuck with a low health and you can only heal 300 health points a day with food...

- Third, the parameters in the influence formula are: strength, rank, weapon and natural enemy bonus. Of course, a fourth parameter on your total influence in a battle is the number of times you will hit enemies in the battle (i.e. the number of times you will click the fight button).

The influence formula for 1 hit is this. (NB: You don’t get exactly the same influence depending on how many hits you need to kill an enemy.)

Influence = ((Rank-1) /20 + 0.3) * ((Strength/10)+40) * (1 + FirePower/100)

Influence against natural enemy = ((Rank-1)/20 + 0.3) * ((Strength/10)+40) * (1 + FirePower/100) * 1.1

Rank being the number associated to your rank
Strength being your strenght
FirePower being

0 for no weapon (+ 0% bonus)
20 for a Q1 weapon (+ 20% bonus)
40 for a Q2 weapon (+ 40% bonus)
60 for a Q3 weapon (+ 60% bonus)
80 for a Q4 weapon (+ 80% bonus)
100 for a Q5 weapon (+ 100% bonus)

What it means is this: According to the formula, a Q5 weapon will only double your influence per hit. So you should ALWAYS use your 300 food fights a day in priority. If you can’t get enough food to use all your food fights, buying weapons instead is counterproductive.

You can find an influence calculator here: Training Corps Influence Calculator

On IRC, the eRepublik bot also features an influence calculator.
