I finally got everything fixed up in my office. I turned on my russian radio...only to hear the Russian anthem and something that sounded like buildings falling....I didn't understand til my executive officer called me from a secure location, his paraphrased quote to me was "Western Alaska has fallen, base now used as pool hall."

Back at home I decided to make some calls to our old base, sure enough someone picked up and spoke in russian and said (roughly translated) "hello, you have reached easy pool hall what do you want?" hmm, easy pool hall now what is up with that!

I'm still not used to sleeping late, this is the 4th time this week I've gotten up when the wake up siren normally sounded. There's no point in trying to fight for more sleep all that would do would make me agitated and pissy, no one wants me pissy...

Today has been about getting my men out of FER and into american soil again....making calls, connecting flights, and getting escorts can be a pain. Of course it's my job but still it's a pain in the ass and no one can say it isn't....
