Taanit Esther
Joran
I dunno how it is for the people in Israel, but here in the States, we're observing the Fast of Esther.
It's a kind of unofficial fast before Purim that was established as a real fast by public consensus, to commemorate how Esther fasted for all of Pesach before risking her life and approaching Ahausverus' throne to ask a request of him. This sent the final events of Purim into motion, and ensured the salvation of B'nei Yisrael.
So to anyone observing the fast, may it be an easy one, and have a Happy Purim!

I don't observe the fast and I live in USA IRL. And I'm also upset that we only read an abbreviated version of the Megillah in synagogue. Well, that's our rabbi for you. He wants to cut the service much shorter, no matter what service it is. Well, I think that if he didn't give a 30 minute sermon every Saturday morning, maybe the service would be a lot shorter!
