Sympathy for the devil
Apples123
I had to pause for a moment and think of the admins recently. Since I started playing the game, they had always been getting bashed about for the delay in releasing V2, that was the buzz word, the silver bullet to cure all of our woes.
The launch of V2 came and went and has anything changed ? Not really. Everyone kicked up a fuss about how bad V2 was and all the problems it brought. I actually thought it wasn't that bad, some issues yes but overall more depth to a game that has a relatively simple concept to it. (also was v1 really that good or our we looking back through nostalgic-tinted glasses?)
I was just thinking about all of the time and effort the admins must have put into planning V2 and making it a reality only to have to revert back to what is essentially V1 with a few changes and nicer graphics. I have to say, they have some balls to stop, listen and change the game back based on the fans feedback. I know some would say "that is exactly what they should do" and I don't disagree, its just surprising how open they were to doing it. I know alot of games/providers who would not be bothered.
I guess what I am saying is kudos to the admins for taking the actions they are taking and for doing it as quickly as they are. I think that took balls.
Nice one guys, I appreciate it.
Now back to the moaning about a free game.
Regards,
Apples

The problem is that when you introduce something new, nobody likes it but people get used to it
The problem of the staff of erepublik is that when players get used to something they change it drastically
They could have lowered the amount of hapiness you lose a day or make it easier to gain it, not just simply removing it
There are other examples but you get the point
I'm glad they are reverting back towards V1. Unfortunately I think the damage is already done and the eWorld has lost a lot of good players who make up a massive part of this games appeal.
I agree with the above article, it takes some serious maturity to admit a mistake and go back on your hard work. But at the end of the day the modules which are being taken away can be added later, bit by bit, and over a long time instead of throwing them altogether at once in an uncontrollable mess that was Rising. I think this is the way forward for eRep.
It's just the constant tinkering that annoys most people. Even if some people don't like something, they don't mind once they get used to it. What they don't like is when things keep changing. It's okay to make small changes the whole time or big changes occasionally but constantly making major changes is really getting on the nerves of most people, including myself.
Yeah I agree with you there guys - I just hope it doesn't go back to being a much more simplified game - i liked the depth that some of the elements 'rising' gave us
I absolutely agree with your statement here, Apples. As a game/software developer and tester myself, I found it amazing the admin would even take the time to tolerate and even elicit negative feedback, and then act on it in such a grand manner as to actually change the game.
Almost every other game maker out there straps you in with no recourse, paid or free, save the issues they personally feel are important. And then again, it is their decision, not the players'.
I agree that the implementations could have been done more fluidly, but then sometimes that is the nature of a game that itself must be running 24/7 in order to keep from injuring players.
