Switzerland's Stagnancy Struggle
sgtchewy
A while back, a good friend of mine wrote an article that said in no uncertain terms, that Switzerland needed more internal fights to say vibrant. He was right. There are no large political arguments taking place, or economic or military arguments for that matter. We just stay at the same old, hoping that things might change on their own. Switzerland has, through its lack of social conflict, become seriously boring. I say that in that in the meanest possible way. Our problem largest problem, however, is that we can't quarrel with each other often. If a rift is created between the surviving members of non-multist Switzerland, that could spell the end of the country. I suppose that the lack of partisanship is a good thing, due to our unfortunate situation, but a loss of interest will result.
We have a single party in Switzerland. There may be seven “parties”, but there are two real mentalities in Switzerland. We need to have four or five. There are some major differences in opinion on how things should be done, yet there remains only one mindset. Members of the ATO super-mentality should be able to choose at the end of the month which of the micro-mentalities they prefer. These micro-mentalities are, of course, the different candidates. That is how it should be. We are stuck in a non-aggressive mood, a “hive-mind”, if you will. That needs to change. Everything needs to change.
The generic eSwiss citizen has a predilection for keeping quiet and not voicing complaints or disagreements. State what you think could be done better. Say it loud. I also want to see five or six articles by different people running for president. Forget about how much time you have that month. Forget how much experience you have. Just run. We could do with a close race. I want a choice next time I vote in our primary. Not between two front runners, but between four or five of them. Let’s make Switzerland interesting again. An actual debate would be nice.
Don’t believe you have enough experience, or enough support to win a candidature? Believe me when I say that an article or two will help. If we get a couple of people who are active enough to make a large commitment to run, we could even see a debate as I mentioned earlier. I personally would like to try out the idea of a live IRC debate. Maybe I’m crazy.
If you disagree with what I just wrote…please disagree loudly. I want to hear it.
Have a good day/evening/night/morning everyone.

sgtchewy is N-U-T-S!!! 😃
I would support having to CP candidates to choose from. Three or more might be distracting from ATO efforts. (FWIW I see the need for a constant ATO rapidly diminishing. We're not out of the woods but I can see daylight.)
*two
Damn, I can't spell and english is my only language.
As long as everyone sets aside their differences at the end to vote on the unity candidate, who cares if there are 5 different choices, there will still be enough votes. Yes, at that point, people are much more likely to go rogue. But that has never been much of a problem in Switzerland. With 4 or 5 (realistic) candidates, the average citizens voice could mean a whole lot more, and it will give them a much wider range views. Maybe 5 is a bit much, but 3 or 4 isn't too much to ask for, is it?
Can I run for president?
no... you can't
and you can tell David that i said so
thank you for not swearing at me.
😛
dude... great article. i think you're an awesome writer.
Bring back the IRC debates.
SgtChewy for CP!
Death to all that isn't CHEWY!!!!!
/me bites self to make sure I'm chewy enough to live.
IRC debates FTW!!!
AGREED 1000000% PERCENT! I want some controversy and political fun, that's why I ran for SLP PP initially but we had no regions forever so there was nothing to do 😛
basically YESSSSSSSSSS @everything
You are right about almost everything, and I really liked the article...but these Swiss citizens do not choose to be quite out of being timid. They join and two click and then leave. This is due in part to lack of all of these activities you speak of (and the fact that the game is not as large/exciting/platofuckedthingsup/, but the reason we do not have these debates and parties and candidates is because our population is too small. It is a vicious cycle of inactivity that cannot be stopped while a double PTO is in force.
Thus we cling to each other, desperate to hold on to what little strength and creativity we have left. Mass emigration from Switzerland occurs after we have any sort of disagreement, only further adding to the population problem. The times we have before Cronoss were times of prosperity and intellectual development, with great presidents and ACTIVE citizens to be found everywhere. When Cronoss came, many jumped ship as they saw their nation sink down into the ever-rising waves of multies. We cannot change without a stable society.
You don't allow people in start with that
Poet much? 😛 There are ever so many downward spirals, and Switzerland is currently in one of them. While arguments may make people leave, it WILL make the ones that choose to stay, much more active. Most of the people who are still here are going to remain here for the long haul. Yes, there are a few floaters left, but not many. Switzerland isn't going to have a gigantic baby boom, so why not make eRep fun while we're all still playing?

Babybooms are a source of new mentalities.
A babyboom? In Switzerland? You have got to be kidding me. 😃 😛
We have had many attempts to create babybooms, including Facebook spreads, youtube videos, posting on similar sites, spreading through external forums and recommending to friends. It has not been successful.
I disagree 🙂 ...but nicely...
You're absolutely right...except that you give the exact reason why dissent among the few active guys is not possible! Before having several political forces, we need a larger community...there's another reason why we stand unite😛 Switzerland used to have fierce debates some times ago....there was such a huuuuuge gap between the two sides that we couldn't even talk to each other!
