The broader issue is that it would increase food costs for the general public. It'd raise wages/profits in one area but take it from the rest.

you're probably better off getting into another area. Our high RM's would be much more likely to yield a profit for you, particularly if you export.

I would not raise my prices on food to the public..... I would just be able to move more food and in turn be able to buy more grain. So in the long run food price may go up but it would be along with salaries at the food company and the grain company so the cost of living would not go up. The only real difference I can see is that US companies would make more money and outside companies would not be able to profit off of us as much.

Since I wanted to start a Titanium company I moved my corp to Canada and so I started looking at their import taxes and I never thought I would say this but we could learn something from them. On any item that they can produce due to a high resource region they have a 99% import tax.....that's right 99% and we can't get ours a little higher to make it profitable to own a company in the USA COME ON. If congress is so sure that it will raise the cost of food for us then try it and prove the point. Shows us how you are right and we are fools. I can promise you one thing I have 500 items of food that I will not raise the price on.

So congress its time to do what is right raise the import tax on any item that the USA has a high region in. I say raise it to 99%. Its time to look out for our companies and our people.

You should read this. Look at the chapter on 'The Drive for Exports'. This will explain all about why taxes on imports are only beneficial for one group of people and infact hinder everyone else.

We have tried high import taxes before. They hurt both the individual and all of EDEN, as well as creating conflict between us and the rest of EDEN, which we were a part of.

Business people get into business to make money and they can not do that without employees to make products to sell and other companies to provide RM and what not. You see thats is the point I've been around long enough that I know there is a differant way to do things and I also know what our economy was like back then and why it was that way.
