Join the new world

Beste lezer,

Vandaag zijn de Tweede Kamerverkiezingen. Ik heb me kandidaat gesteld voor de LSD in Noord-Nederland, maar de concurrentie is moordend. De kans is dus klein dat ik daadwerkelijk een parlementszetel bemachtig.

Bij deze doe ik daarom een dringende oproep aan alle medeburgers die vinden dat de minderheid die geen voldoende kennis van het Nederlands bezit, wordt achtergesteld door het nieuwe talenbeleid. Ongeacht de wat pessimistische reacties op mijn betoog voor het instellen van een Vertaalwerkgroep om de overheidscommunicatie naar deze minderheid te bevorderen, heb ik hoop voor de toekomst. Het overstappen naar een volledig Nederlandse communicatie, juist nu ons land elke burger kan gebruiken, is immers een stap in de verkeerde richting. Vroeg of laat moet men dat gaan inzien, en ik wil er graag voor zorgen dat dat zo snel mogelijk gebeurt.

Dat gaat natuurlijk het makkelijkst als ik in de Tweede Kamer zit, waar ik zelf meteen een debat kan aanvragen. Hopelijk komt daar dan een mooi wetsvoorstel uit dat de goedkeuring van alle bevolkingsgroepen kan wegdragen.

Mocht ik, ondanks al mijn inzet, toch geen zetel bemachtigen, is dat natuurlijk niet het einde van het verhaal. Ik zal me blijven inzetten voor een eerlijke kans voor alle leden van onze gemeenschap.

Dus: wil je doorgaan met dit gedoemde beleid, stem dan vooral op anderen. Maar steun je mijn voorstel en visie, stem dan op mij en zorg ervoor dat ik mijn invloed kan laten gelden om echt wat te veranderen.

Dear reader,

Today a new Congress is elected. I am running for the LSD party in the Northern Netherlands, but there is a lot of competition. Thus, the chance of me winning a seat in parliament is very slim.

Therefore, I hereby make an urgent appeal to all compatriots who think that the minority with insufficient knowledge of the Dutch language are discriminated by the new language policy. Notwithstandig the somewhat pessimistic reactions to my argument for the institution of a Translation Team in order to promote governmental communication to this minority, I have hope for the future. Switching to all-Dutch communication at the very moment that every single citizen’s involvement is necessary for our country’s survival, is, of course, a self-defeating policy. Sooner or later they will understand, but I want to make sure that happens as soon as possible.

The easiest way of doing this, is from within Congress. I would be able to request a debate on this topic immediately, from which, hopefully, a constructive law proposal would follow that meets with general approval.

Should I fail at obtaining a seat in Congress, even after all this effort, that will not be the end. I will devote myself tirelessly to equal chances for all members of society.

So if you want to continue this doomed policy, feel free to vote for any candidate other than me. If, however, you support my proposal and overall vision, please vote for me and make sure that I can use my influence to bring about this much-needed change.
