Squiddy's Party Election Campgain - Part 1

Day 384, 04:14 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Squiddy
Introduction

I'd like to introduce you all to my first of many campaign articles. This first article will be a brief overview outlining my priorities and what I'll plan to go into further detail about in my coming releases.

My Top 3 Priorities

The Party & Members

The one thing I value more than anything in the world of political parties are the members. Each and every member of the party acts as an individual lifeline for the party. With each lifeline comes the possibility for interaction and betterment of the party in general. The more of these lifelines you have the better your party will operate. They are what keep the party from stagnating, not the Party President or any council members, but the regular members that we must devote our attention and efforts towards, for without them, our great party would be nothing.

Now, it's all very well and good to say this, as I'm sure a lot of other candidates will make out they care for their members, but it's one thing to say it and one thing to do it. I have consistently welcomed every single new member into the arms of The Unity Party, freely offering and providing many with any help they should desire.

I take time to message new citizens of the United Kingdom to check if they're doing okay, if they require any assistance or whether they just need a few explanations.

As well as personally messaging new citizens, I also message a lot of new member in TUP in-game, and again, find out if they need any help, point them to the forums and so on.

If you're a TUP member and you want an idea of who's putting in the effort around the party and who's not, simply have a read of this thread; http://forum.erepublik.co.uk/general-discussion-f21/new-members-vs-forum-active-members-t6413.htm

The United Kingdom

Whilst some will spend eternity trying to convince you that I'm the very bane of democracy It's a very far stretch from the reality of things.

Whilst The Unity Party must come first in a lot of things, the country herself must be placed in the spotlight in certain situations. Whilst I agree that it's good to have your party represented to the fullest, I believe it's only good if you're actually providing people that can better the country, not make it worse. This goes for both the Presidential and Congress Elections.

Again, this can be another point in which candidates can claim to agree with, but how many can actually attest to their own actions for supporting their comments? I don't know, but I can.

During the last Congress Elections, I spent a lot of time making sure that our candidates were up for the job, whilst also getting maximum exposure and results for the party. Each member was told they would be required to post an Election Manifesto with information about themselves, what they plan to do with their position and so on. This was more or less compulsory, to show that the people running for Congress were as dedicated as they made out they were.

During the last Presidential Elections, TUP had one, yeah, count them, one candidate. Not a single other person offered to run. (This is not meant as a dig, but to try and give people an idea of the situation TUP was and still is in). I personally didn't want to run this time, which I didn't in the end. A lot of people will have already made up their minds about what they think happened; i.e. I ran, then decided to pull out only because of the contract, as if it was all a planned event. Well, I can tell you that it was anything but planned.

It was public knowledge that I didn't want to run for presidency within TUP and my original plan was to run, but campaign with principles of being entirely honest; and encouraging people to vote for the best candidate and to be upfront and say I didn't have the time to commit to being president etc. because at the end of the day, if your party doesn't have a candidate for the Presidential Elections, it's rather much frowned upon. The contract situation was started roughly 48 hours before the actual elections themselves and was admittedly badly organised on my part. All in all, a large factor of me not wanting to run was because I knew I couldn't serve the country properly if I was elected. A notion that a certain other party dismissed entirely when considering their own candidate.

Exposure

I believe that the only way a party can grow is by getting it out there. Who's going to want to join a party that they don't know anything about?

Again, I can attest to my dedication to this, through regularly promoting TUP with articles, inter-party planning of articles, personal messages to new TUP members and unaffiliated citizens. As well as the previous, I'm also very engaged with the TUP Forums, helping to maintain initiatives such as the TUP Council that was founded by Hassan Peseran and even trying to better the party with creating my own initiatives, such as my TUP Organisation proposal which was to be used for mainly donating money to instead of to the part itself, in which the funds cannot be access, furthermore meaning that they can't be used for any good to the TUP. (I couldn't find my specific post about it, just a post in reference to it; http://forum.erepublik.co.uk/general-discussion-f21/donating-to-party-t4643.htm )

If you have access to the TUP Forums then you will indeed see that I put a lot of time, effort and dedication into my job as Party President. I take the time to do all these things that no one else is prepared to do and that is why I believe that I'm best Party President Candidate for these elections.
