South African Gold Party Presidency
Hamilton Moore
Good day eSouth Africans!
I must confess this article is mainly aimed at my fellow Gold Party members as part of the run up to the Gold Party Presidential Elections. Sorry for any non-members reading this, but please keep reading as I'm all for multi-party democracy and would like other citizens to know where I stand and where I hope to be leading the Gold Party in general.
I decided to run for Party President after chatting to a few of the other Gold Party members as we're currently experiencing a bit of a generational change with many of our top members moving to work for the eSA Government and not having as much time for the party as previously. This means lots of opportunities for our newer but still highly active players. I should note that our experienced players haven't left the party, they are just being realistic about the time they can afford to spend on eRep and are mainly focusing on their eSA governmental responsibilities, which is an attitude I think all eSA citizens can appreciate, putting eSouth Africa responsibilities above party one's.
That all being said, I saw an opportunity to help continue the great tradition of the SAGP which had originally been the reason I joined the party. A tradition of organisation, high levels of activity and dedication, both to the party and the state. And I see my running for Party President of the SAGP as a step towards creating the structures that will allow us to function with this tradition central to all future activity.
As those party members who are active on the forums know, I've recently (with the assistance of a few other knowledgeable members of the party) composed a first draft of the future gold party policy. You can find it here:
http://goldparty.freeforums.org/gold-party-policy-draft-1-t146.html
It is very extensive and goes into the specific policies and structures we want to put in place in order to reach specific national goals. It is a direct reaction to the verbose generalities thrown about as a rule in eSA politics. We've tried to see where we want to go as a nation and then drawn up the base policies to get us there along with some serious action plans to move us as a nation towards that goal.
To give those of you who are not party members and cannot access the draft policy to see what we are aiming for, here is our strategic vision:
“eSouth Africa, unified as a single state occupying all of our historical provinces. A small but vibrant population, actively involved in all aspects of eSA life, from Politics to the Economy and from National Defence to Citizen Education. Peaceful relations with both of our historic neighbours, Brazil and Australia, as well as an active International engagement with all nations beyond our borders.”
The main aim of my party presidency will be to get the party into a position of strength so that we can make those policies become a reality.
1. This includes the immediate creation of a Congressional Election Committee so we can do some long term planning and ensure we do well in the Congressional Elections on the 25th.
2. It will also include immediately getting a recruiting team together to start managing our advertising better. We have not been recruiting correctly for the last month or so and we need to start immediately. We will trade heavily on having a full extensive policy document, being the Party who knows what we want for eSA and have concrete plans to get eSA there! So we'll be aiming to recruit a number of the active players from other parties. Not everyone will jump on board, but I think that with actual goals many eSouth African's can agree with, many of the more active members of other parties will reconsider where their energy can best be spent for the betterment of eSA.
3. I will immediately be pushing for candidates for Country President from the party. It is my belief that in order for the Gold Party to function correctly we need to separate the positions of Party President and Country President. I'm also of the belief that the Country President must do what they must for the country first. But I'm hoping that from within the party we can find a candidate who will help us from the presidential seat to make our policies happen in eSA.
Thank you for reading. If you are a member of the South African Gold Party, I urge you to go to the party forum and get involved with the finalising of our policy document. I also ask for you support in the Party Presidential elections on the 15th in order to allow me to help start the various steps towards a better tomorrow for both the SAGP and eSA! If you are not a member of the SAGP, I'd ask you to keep your eyes peeled, as we are working hard on getting our policy ready for launch and I believe that many citizens of eSA irrelevant of their political home will resonate with these goals and we look forward to working with you and indeed welcoming some of you into our party in the future.
Yours sincerely,
Hamilton Moore

I advise extreme caution in seeking to induce members of other parties to join. I have always disliked approaches from other parties to leave my own and do not feel comfortable with the idea of approaching others.

I agree totally with what you said. I also dislike the approaches other parties have taken to recruit members from other parties.
What we're trying to achieve is to lay down our policy. We then are hoping that other players, regardless of their current political party will read that policy, as the most developed document in eSA, and decide that "actually these Gold Party guys really have a good idea about what they want to do for eSA. They also seem to have space for active players like myself and I reckon I could actually do some good as an individual, rather than just being an extra voter".
So just to be clear. We won't be mailing people and asking them to switch parties, we won't be offering incentives to switch parties. We'll just be going via GP newspapers: these are our goals, this is how we plan to achieve them, if you would like to get involved please join the GP. Which I think you can agree is the way parties should run.
most of us want to have unity in the party as is my number one goal for the PP
Good luck bud you have my vote when the time comes!
