Small Update from President

Day 1,056, 20:23 Published in Japan Japan by Akki

It’s been 5 days since I came into the office of president; it is now about time for few updates regarding stuffs that happened in last 5 days. This will not be too long so anyone reading this won’t be overwhelmed by it.

First, I bring sad news to eJapan. Our Minister of Defense, Kijuju, has sadly stepped down from his position. He had real life issues (getting the job that he wanted for long time) that caused him to have less time to handle erepublik. He does not have enough time right now to handle the Army and thus stepped down from the position on the 10th. While this is a terrible loss for eJapan (since Kijuju is a great experienced players who have done so much for our nation), Real life takes a priority over erepublik. Thus, I would like to wish Kijuju good luck in real life, and I hope he still continues to pop in to check in on us when he has time at his leisure.

As a replacement for Kijuju, Yonsil has been appointed as the new Minister of Defense today. He is a very active citizen who knows how to work with army business. He has been an excellent squad leader so far, and it is my hope that Yonsil will bring those skills he used for his squad into the whole army. As a new Minister of Defense, it will be up to him to continue where GenoGaron (from TheReverendSeanV Administration) and Kijuju has left off with the task of reviving the Japanese Imperial Army. Great works lie ahead of us, but Yonsil will be able to continue and improve the Army in the current environment of constant change (due to Admins). Yonsil will still stay as a Squad leader of his old Military Squad for the time being while he works as Minister of Defense.

Second order of business is the extension of the Alliance (MPP) with USA. The negotiation for extension had been going on since I took office, and after some delays, it is finally being voted on right now. The cost is 100/100 so it is more than fair for our nation. USA is our Bro, and I will continue to try to maintain a positive relationship with USA and to work closely with them.

There were other possibility of signing more Alliances (MPP) with other nations, but it has mainly died down due to price issues. For the time being, the government position is to keep and maintain the two Alliances (MPPs) we already have (China and USA) until admins figures out what they want to do with the war module. Currently, it is changing so much that it is almost impossible to make any long term planning with good odds that our government has decided to rather wait than to waste money right now. It is currently not worth the gamble to throw too much money into any more Alliances (MPPs).

Third, there were some changes made to the new citizen message. The old new citizen message simply had too much outdated information that it needed to be rewritten. The notable change to the new message is that it no longer mentions Mentorship Program (Sempai and Kouhai Program) since the current government do not have possession of the organization responsible for it. It also had been an abandoned program for a while now. We simply did not want to confuse any new citizens of eJapan by giving them outdated information that is now irrelevant in the game.

Fourthly, the food price has been increasing in eJapan due to lack of workers compared with the increase in demand. This has caused sudden rise in the wage in eJapan that is causing grain price and labor cost to increase. Current price of food has increased significantly in past few days and the government is already starting a discussion on lowering import tax for food to try to get more foreign food for eJapan until domestic market can stabilize and produce enough for our nation’s demand. It will however take some time before the price of food stabilizes. For the time being, I ask every citizens of eJapan to be patient until the congress and the government can work it all out.

For the time being, I will leave it to that so this article does not become too long. There is definitely more that is happening with the government and our society so make sure to keep checking eJapan forum (nipponblog.net/forum) and our IRC channel (#eJapan @Rizon) often. There is always something that could be going on in eJapan that you can miss. Again, if you have questions, comments, concerns, etc., please feel free to contact me any time in game, or in IRC.
