Singin’ the G.I. Blues - V2's New War Module

Day 970, 14:43 Published in South Africa South Africa by eSA Ministry of Education

So many of us are singin’ the blues, waiting for the war module to launch, excited to try our new skills and weps … There are a few things that may help your first time on the field, a change of practices and expectations. Here are a few tips:

-- Know where the hospital is located. When you approach the field, know where you should go to heal.

-- Don’t expect to hit the fight button five times. Your wellness could be taken to 0 the first time you hit the fight button. Being near a hospital will help, but won’t restore you to full health. Unless you’ve got plenty of gold for wellness packs, you may have to wait until you find a way to restore your health before you hit the fight button again.

-- Buy weapons. I know it may seem that the price of weapons has gone through the roof, and that may be right in some cases. However, 500 ZAR for a good weapon may prove a good price. Be sure to study the CPs and how they benefit you. If you get 30 uses from a 500 ZAR wep, you may be getting a deal.

-- Make sure you have the right moving ticket. If you’re deploying (something we’ll probably rarely face thanks to attacks) be sure to look at the components for your Moving Ticket. Make sure it will take you the right number of regions. Also, check to see if it carries a wellness/happiness benefit.

-- Study the battlefield before and after you deploy. Because most of us will have fewer fights than we once had, it’s important to make each fight count. Two minutes per turn is too long? Once you start taking time to figure out who’s around you and who you want to challenge then moving to them to engage, you may find that 2 minutes is barely enough. Be proactive in your battle plan and enjoy!

-- Always use a defense booster. Even if no one is around you as your turn ends, someone could be deployed to attack you without your knowing. You’ll suffer less damage if you have a defense booster.

-- Don’t look at battles as easily winnable. Here comes the money rant – lol! The new War Module is created so that the requirements for victory are so challenging that battles will go over 24 hours. Many will go for the 3 days and be declared draws. That we will frequently not enjoy victory has its purpose – if the battle is waged over and over, the expense of victory (or defeat, for that matter) will grow. People will be forced to spend a great deal of gold in order to supply a national military or to aid private citizens. The bottom line on war may not be who has the most tanks or the largest weps, but who has the most money to spend so they can keep going. Yes, cheer for your side and absolutely get in there and do your best, but protect yourself from being overwhelmed with disappointment if economic advantages win out.

-- Support organized militaries and militias. The best chances for victory come from our most knowledgeable, strongest players. Organized groups have nightly conversations on how to best approach the game and lend each other a lot of assistance and support… If you’ve never been in the military, try joining. If that doesn’t work out, try a militia. If neither are for you, at least try to support them with occasional contributions to their orgs. Being able to supply soldiers, especially the elites, could make a huge difference during battles.

-- Be patient. There will be terrible bugs. Players with money to burn will dominate the field. Battle results will sometimes come into question. I think we’re used to that, right? The old problems won’t go away and new problems may be introduced. Just enjoy doing what you’re able to do then step back and cheer your team.

-- Keep the conversation going. Talk to other players – Ask questions and share discoveries. Working together will make us all stronger.

Stay strong, eSouth Africa!
