Shame on eTurkey, and why you shouldn't bring RL into the Game

Day 929, 22:24 Published in Turkey Israel by Amun Nefer

First off, I would like to give my thoughts on the mixing of real life situations and the game. This is a moral question that has to do with the personal character of some players.

We all know it's fun to occasionally bring RL into eRep. Found an eSeal team, set up an eMeals on Wheels or do something else that makes you feel fun roleplaying that organisation. Sometimes it is even fun to invade a nation over age-old disputes. Hell, I consider Poland invading Germany to be hilarious, or the destruction of eFrance to be somewhat amusing, no offence to you guys. What happens though when something tragic occurs in real life and lives are lost? What happens if an e-nation takes advantage of this get a babyboom? That is when I have to say that the leaders of that e-nation need to re-evaluate their own personal morals.

This is the case in the last week with eTurkey. An event in real life occured that created a great deal of controversy and in which some of their citizens died. I won't go into my opinion of this because it A, negates the point of this article, and B, I have been over this topic a hundred times with various idiots and intelligent people. Here is how this event relates to eRepublik though. eTurkey decided and publicly stated that they would invade eIsrael in retaliation in order to get a babyboom. They attacked Israel and this of course brought many new citizens into both eIsrael and eTurkey. eIsrael is down to only one region which will most likely fall. Now I love Turkey, it is quite possibly one of my most favourite nations in the world. I must ask myself though, what kind of a person if they are truly hurt by a tragedy in real life then takes advantage of said tragedy to get ahead in a game? Would you use the excuse of a parent dying to win at football? Most of you would probably say no. I do wonder who would think such a thing is a good idea. I am an anthropologist in real life, and I can say that in no human culture is that considered acceptable or sane behaviour. So I ask you eTurkey: Why? Why almost mock such a tragedy by using it to get ahead in eRepublik?

With this I issue a call to arms to everyone, including fellow brothers, you know who you are. eIsrael is under invasion to settle an RL score. We have all heard the joke: The only way for them to retaliate is by attacking eIsrael, a nation in a game, and the like. However, eTurkey is at this very moment endangering the fun of hundreds of players. We know it's wrong for them to use this event, given how fresh it is in our minds, and we need to make sure they realise their are consequences for such things. eIsrael will probably be destroyed in this round, there is little doubt. eIsrael will rebuild though and be stronger as a result.

&quot😉on't Tread on Me" --- a famous U.S. saying of defiance.

I encourage anyone who feels these actions by eTurkey are even remotely wrong to move to Jerusalem District or to Beersheba and help in a future RW. We might lose this battle, but eTurkey will lose the war when their plan backfires!

Show people that just because you think it is right to attack the electronic version of a real country, it does not mean that you will attain victory.

Lastly, I would like to issue a request that in the future such recent tragedies not be so horribly taken advantage of for personal gain. It's unfair, it wrecks the game and it's just plain wrong.

Amun Nefer,

Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs for eSouth Africa

P.S. IF you do talk about the event I am referencing in comments, I WILL report you, don't think I don't read comments 😉 You might be laughing now, but you'll be very annoyed when you get an FP. :3
