Sept - Oct UK Citizen Survey Results

September - October UK Citizen Survey Results

A few days ago I created a form for UK players to fill in. This form contained a number of questions such as their party, wage and a few more. I wanted to do this to get an idea of the average eUK citizen and what they thought of the UK in general. This could also be useful for the future CP, future ministers and just anyone who would like ideas on how the UK could be improved.

Out of the total 2043 “active” citizens I managed to get 23 to fill in the form. The entrants range from both new and old players so thankfully the data is fairly varied. However, most of 23 citizens rated their activity a 7 (above normal) which could make the data slightly biased from the average UK citizen.
Wages

(Note: I excluded the commune job wages from these results as it could affect the data, 17/23 are not in a commune.)

Despite prices of food and weapons increasing lately, wages have not increased by much. This is very bad news for those that rely on their job as one of their main sources of income.

From the data the average wage was 30.8GBP, which is quite high although the result is affected by a few players who are earning a fairly large wage.

*Percentage of citizens (i.e. 17.7% of citizens earn between £10 and £21)

But as you can see from the chart above, the majority of players are earning between £22 and £25 a day, which is not much compared to the price to buy supplies each day.

Fortunately there are parties and military units which give out supplies which lowers the cost of living.

In my opinion, the government should try and encourage employers to increase the wages of British players.
Newspapers

82.61% of the players said they owned a newspaper.

*Percentage of citizens (i.e. 82.6% own a newspaper)

Most players stated that they wrote an article occasionally and everyone else except 2 people, said they wrote an article at least once a month. I think it is great to see people writing articles and personally would love to see more articles from all UK citizens.

I think the government should also come up with a scheme or some reward system that gives rewards and gives prizes to the UK’s top writers. For example, each month, the government could give 2,000GBP to 5 of the top writers of the month which could be either chosen by the people, the MoHA or the CP himself/herself. I am sure the UK can afford to do something like this and hopefully we would see a improvement in the UK’s media and see some new players getting involved and writing articles.
Daily Order

I believed a possible way to tell if a player is financially stable is if they are able to complete the daily order regularly.

I excepted the number of players that did not complete the daily order to be much higher because of the cost of weapons and food however 7 out of the 23 did not regularly complete the daily order, which is around 30%.

Of course, there are other reasons why a player might not complete the daily order such as saving strength, so it might not be that players can’t afford to complete daily orders, but that they choose not to. I may add an option for citizens to state why they do not complete the daily order if I do this again.

Out of the 7 who did not complete the daily order, 5 of the players are under level 30.
NHS

I added 2 options about the NHS which the citizens filled in, one asking if they received food from the NHS and another asking if they had donated to the NHS in the past but I am not going to go into any detail about the results.

*Percentage of citizens (i.e. 57% said they did receive food)

*Percentage of citizens (i.e. 78% said they have donated to the NHS)
Spending

Spending of the citizens is very different.

7 citizens (30😵 said they spent nothing each day. A few of those 7 citizens said they did complete the daily order which suggests they receive support from a party or military unit.

16 citizens spend less than 80cc a day, but 7 of those spent more than the average wage calculated above.

*Percentage of citizens (i.e. 4% spend between £10 and £21 a day.)

The average spending is 422.896GBP a day.
Current State of The eUK

This is what the citizens had to say on the current state of the UK.

Fine, good leadership, and strong team, and no NE
- Dr Kawishiwi

I think the eUK is fine because if you look at me. You can definitely see a vCP.
Yeah
FaP4vCP. Let's do it this time!
Boh, I'll repay the money later. Please don't break my legs....
- FightAndProduce

I think there are issues with overall recruitment and a high level of emmigration. After this, the eUK is fine.
- Sir Rex Fleddington

The eUK has become less active and somewhat less interesting. The recent missions show that nobody is really fighting as much as they used to, and politics have definitely died down.”
- Prince Sheogorath

I think eUK is fine because, it's both large and small enough to be able to make a difference with the needed support.
- Nohjis

“It's alright, people are generally nice and the community is fairly active. But our numbers are slowly decreasing and people are getting extremely aggressive towards each other. The amount of political baw is too much.
- LongShotzZ

I think eUK is fine because... i'm in it
if i leave then PANIC
- mwcerberus

My opinion of the eUK is mixed. I think that the community on IRC are great (maybe a bit hard on the banter but still good fun). The majority of people, particularly since Commander Dapper and BigAnt left the eUK, seem to get along with each other. There will always be trolls but they are annoying sometimes. The main thing which is bad for me is the economy. WRM has been rising in price a LOT in the past 2 months and it means I get fewer weapons from my communes. Particularly after the epic warfare thing, food and weapon prices have soared up and they are hard to afford for me (I like to use up my commune supplies rather than sell them).
- Jimbobfrey

it's ok....politics is not my scene tbh
- mick cain

Fossilised
- SExagenarian

broadly good and the upcoming changes to the nhs will strengthen it. the one area where there is a problem is the eUK's problems with the increasing frequency and cost of the events and missions
- Pearson corp

better then *than before, but it can always be better.
- DaJoXTeR

I think the eUK is currently doing better than it was when the TUP/NE fighting was the focus. We can now focus on improving the government.
- CheetahCurtis

i think its going pretty well especially since we have lost alot *a lot of the haters that plagued our politics
- jny123

I think it's doing okay. We're in a good alliance and despite the fact that we've got a small community at least we haven't had any major thefts or scandals recently.
- Emergy Maxfell

Its nicer now that the enemies of the eUK have mostly gone away.
- Invalidation

Needs more income higher level players
- D I W

I can't complain, things are okay.
- Joshinius

It's alright but I don't know enough to be unbiased. I'm quite a new player.
- JaredBeare
How The eUK Can Be Improved

When asked how they think the eUK can be improved, this is their responses.

nothing really
- Dr Kawishiwi

Me being vCP?
- FightAndProduce

More recruitment from the government. Better use of congress.
- Sir Rex Fleddington

Things could be improved by increasing overall activity and bringing back those who left for eIreland after being forced out of eUK.
- Prince Sheogorath

Needs more Funky 😉
And a bigger national support for the military aspects of the game
- Nohjis

1. Less political baw.
2. More active players.
3. More wars to help appeal to new players and get players active.
4. Make the ministries more active and help new players get gov. jobs.
- LongShotzZ

I have a list
-laser cannons
-more sharks
-more pubs
-more people playing drunk
-more nake ladies
-more jokes
-people should listen to DC more (as in 100😵
and in what some people may call a reworking of 2 old ideas
-more sharks with lasers on their noggins
- mwcerberus (List needs more eJoke day)

Congress should raise taxes on WRM to hopefully reduce their prices. Something (Idk what though) should be done to try and reduce food/weapon prices soon. I think the NHS should lower its level cap to 26 and that the tier system should be maintained to reduce expenditure.
- Jimbobfrey

the only way to improve is to recruit players and retain them imo
- mick cain

No change either good or bad is likely unless and until there is a successful PTO.
Other than that come back in 1 year, 2 years, 10 years, ... and very little will have changed
- SExagenarian

the movement to a reward based NHS rather than the endowment system is a great improvement as hopefully it will promote greater activity and involvement in new players.

One area which could be improved is the information given to new players ensuring that important articles and tutorials are constantly at the top of the new steps news section would allow good visibility to important articles, ( is there an archive of historic articles which can be re-released or links sent to new players) furthermore articles about the most efficient food and weapons could also help new players on their way to self sufficiency.

one potential idea which i have seen mooted once or twice is a form of buffer stock around food prices, due to the huge fluctuations in prices due to the recent competitions and missions ( which show no sign of abating) some level of control in this market could be highly beneficial for many players especially the new and vulnerable citizens and if run correctly could also be profitable for the eUK government which hopefully could lead to even better performance in future competitions
- Pearson corp (Thanks for the 3 paragraph long answer 😛)

by giving it a military boost. and we need more lands
- DaJoXTeR

Player retention(but blame the developers)
NHS needs reforming(I think it is though)
- CheetahCurtis

not a clue 😃
- jny123

More people getting active. People should put their effort into improving Government rather than their own political party.
- Emergy Maxfell

Money to part fund NHS, bringing back CTA
- D I W

More choices regarding government incentives for citizens wanting to achieve financial freedom.
- Joshinius

Don't give any food to citizens that don't do the daily order. It's a waste.
- JaredBeare
Fin

I think that pretty much wraps up this article, apologizes for it being so long.

Thanks to all of those that filled in the form! 🙂

If this goes okay, I may continue to do this every month or two but hopefully with shorter articles. If I do, I think next time I will do some giveaway or something.

If you have any questions or feedback let me know below.
