Selective Strength Training, and why I don't like it.

Trying to be quick and careful with my thoughts on this. I'll put up another article later that's more detailed, but to be as brief as possible...

With the military slowly becoming more self-sufficient, it's time we start putting some money back into the pockets of those in the nation. I personally like PigInZen's article on his taxes ( Lowering taxes to 10% and turning the economy into a more land based one away from the Manu based one ). I use to be a firm advocate of high taxes, considering there was nothing to invest in really, that is until Lana came around.

Now with Lana, that gives an option for the everyday player to raise their own strength for battles.

Not sure about you, but a whole nation's strength would do far better than just a selected group of individuals. That is, unless they plan on investing the gold into those in the EMC ( Which I can argue another point about ). Wouldn't be a bad idea, but there has to be a line drawn somewhere between our nation and the alliance(s) we join, if that's the case.

Back onto the point though.

A player will generally look after themselves when it comes down to it. If they find themselves not able to do what they would prefer, they will either leave for greener pastures or quit.

Also, there's the possibility that those who are in the group will not always be there to use what the taxpayers have invested into. Afterall, real life trumps eRepublik. Say one of the selected tankers get sick, can't log in, or is just simply not available. That's wasted investments for that battle.

What if they quit or defect? It's a possibility.

I'm sure the government will select people who are loyal and dedicated. That's not really a concern, honestly, but you never know. Stuff happens.

Moving on...

Before Lana, Stuff > Gold. After Lana, I believe it's Gold > Stuff. Namely because the more you train at .12 per day, the more damage you'll do long term. Everybody who's dedicated enough to stay active will hit Field Marshal rank, which was one of the arguements for Stuff > Gold before Lana. The quicker you hit FM, the more damage you did, the better for the nation.

Everybody has the opportunity to hit FM, that is no longer a concern. Concern, from what I see, is keeping up with the overall strength-to-damage with other nations. Not rank-to-damage. Keywor😛 Nations, not individuals.

Not sure it's a good idea for a person to pay for another's strength that they don't even know or are familiar with.

More to add, as I'm short on time. PM me with your thoughts if you'd like.
