Scrabman's Jedi Council - Just Say No!
Socialist Freedom Org
Watching the media over the past few days, there have been many articles slamming the President for his administration's actions (or inaction) when it comes to how it handled the issues that it has recently faced. This criticism has often been valid, such as http://www.erepublik.com/en/newspaper/abrivianius-news-inc--181917/1>this article on Germany. There have also been some apolitical personal attacks, such as http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/scrabman-is-a-gay-fish--813671/1/20>this article. The Jedi Council assumes that eAmericans are unable to discern the difference between a legitimate critique of the failures of the president and a “lulzy” lampooning. I put more faith in the electorate and I would wager that Scrabman does as well.
So what, then, might the council really be for? We have seen that President Scrabman is a formidable politician and has somehow managed to keep his poll numbers up in the middle of a catastrophic second term. Indeed, he seems to dedicate more of his time quieting dissent than he does providing the eAmerican public with a concrete plan for the future of the eUnited States. Could it be that Scrabman is looking to co-opt his political foes?
To those parties who are on “the Dark Side”, do not give in to divisive rhetoric. You have nothing to gain from taking part in this farce in the name of “heightened discourse”. A healthy democracy requires a healthy dissenting voice to point out injustice and a healthy dissenting voice is one that is free of censorship. Let we, the eAmerican citizenry, be the judge of what crosses the line of mudslinging with our subscriptions and our votes.
SAY NO TO THE JEDI COUNCIL!

Theres nothing wrong with a Jedi Council...
I was skeptical of the jedi council, but since the pinkos are against it, it must be good.
It's not a bad concept, but considering scrabman does whatever scrabman wants anyway, this just seems like another waste of time.
The jedi council, although i disagree with the name, is a great idea. People should not be fed lies about any candidate, and personal attacks should not be a part of any political campaign, both IRL and in game.
There is a massive difference between a "healthy dissenting voice" and personal attacks and misinformation for political gain.
I consider the Jedi Council an attack on free speech, and an attempt by the government to control what the people say. Well I can tell you it won't work on me.
There are limits on free speech

Oh really? >.>
I think you need to do a bit more reading. Yes, there are "limits," I do not believe they should exist in real life or here, but you should do a bit more reading on the subject.
Trials in court charging someone with defamation are not the same as a government organization banding together political groups to "punish" certain individuals.

Unfortunately there is no in game court system to handle the situation, as would be available in RL, so that is where the analogy ends. Thus, scrabman is forced to ask for the party presidents to get involved as there is no other way to enforce legitimate, healthy, political speech.
Guys the Jedi council is just an agreement to try and keep discourse to a polite and gentlemenish. (not a word but you get the meaning 😛)
Part Ambassadors are recommended so that issues a party has can be disscussed and perhaps a resolution found. There's no attack on free speach nor censorship. All it is is a method of clear communication.
Aren Perry suggested this in the eUSA forums, and it's made its way here. Nothing wrong with Interparty Communications is there?
Yes there is. Have you ever been to the eUS forums before, McSkittles?
Once the court makes a decision, then the parties can deal with it as needed.

Those ones?
Lorenzo:
Once a government organization is controlling what is "polite and gentlemenish" we are one step closer to corruption.

Those ones?"
Yes, those ones. While the disclaimer says they courts have no effect on real-life laws, those courts can and have been used to make eUS government decisions.
this is a weak attempt by Scrabman to control decent. It is a ploy to give the parties who are not in the top five a taste of power, and therefore a "voice". what Scrabman doesn't want you to know is that you have this voice already. the truth will come out.
