Saoirse: A Party Looking for a Leader

Day 843, 13:33 Published in Ireland Ireland by The Dagda

eDate: Day 843 of the New World

Before I go into my manifesto, I would like to remind eIreland about the open forum opportunity. This Saturday, 14:00 eRep time.

A Party President Manifesto

First off, I'd like to address why I am writing a manifesto. The answer is simple, its good practice. I believe that even uncontested candidates should write manifestos. I also want to give you all a little insight into what I'd like to get done as a PP.

Next, I'd like to address why I am running. Saoirse faced a strong blow this last month, our membership dropped and we only had three members elected into the Dail. Soon after the congress elections, clowprince took control of the party and we started to make a turnaround. Now what I want to do is to use that progress to take Saoirse to the brink of greatness and beyond.

Current Progress

My major goal will be to continue the progress that we have seen since clownprince has taken over. This means, increasing the member count and increasing the functionality of intra-party affairs. A big part of this will be organization. I don't see how Saoirse can ever be great with out a great deal of organization. As part of this organization, I'd like to see Saoirse follow through with Sargant's idea of a Saoirse party council, and Biffo's idea for party mentors.

Activity

Another goal of mine is to increase the activity of Saoirse members both within the party and within eIreland. I have always felt Saoirse hasn't received the respect it deserves. We are the 3rd largest party in eIreland, and have a lot of talent. I feel the perception that Saoirse "lacks talent" stems from our youth. We have a lot of young members who tend to be a little quiet and underestimated. The youth always has good ideas and is a very valuable resource.

That is why, I would like to see as many Saoirse member's as possible enlist in the IDF, help out in one of the ministries, and simply find their voice in eRep. Hopefully, with a burst of activity, Saoirse will flourish and get the respect that it deserves.

Populism

Populism is one of the things that made Saoirse so appealing to me. That is why I pledge to uphold it. Decisions will be made by the group as they have been in the past. The only change I would like to make here is the process in which we vote. In the past we have used polls, but I believe that disrupts the integrity of the vote; people from other parties could very well be skewing our votes. To avoid this, I would like to see the votes take place in a similar fashion to the way they take place in the Dail; posting votes.

Saoirse is a party that upholds democratic values. Under my reign as PP, that will not change.
