Sailing Away

Some music to set the mood

...And if you're too picky, here's another

Hello fellow Americans!

Unfortunately, this may be the last time I can ever write that. I've really enjoyed my time with the USA since I joined back in 2010, but I feel as if I need to set sail for a fresh start. As they say, "The grass is always greener on the other side." That is why I am joining one of my dearest UIP peers in the country of Switzerland.

I understand my leave isn't real news; the real purpose of this article is to reminisce on the days here I'll never forget. I hope the rest of you feel the nostalgia.

I remember joining eRepublik as a naive noob, hell bent on running for congress at level 15 but getting shut down by more experienced members on the former in-game chat room, such as Grant Tommy

I remember blowing every last bit of money I had fighting without a weapon, leaving almost no damage whatsoever. Afterward, I would mooch off my friends for food and weapons.

I remember asking Athanaric for a help and not long after, found myself at my first inner-party position in the UIP.

I remember spending my days with some of the most fun people in the game. (Justin McCravok, Athanaric, Kazeal, Pheno Sony, AndraX2000, John Largo, RaccoonGoon, and thedillpickl just to name a few.) Y'all made the game much more fun than it ever actually was. I miss our online forum more than anything.

The overwhelming nostalgia is suffocating me

I remember staying up late on school nights for congressional elections; particularly beating back the overwhelming INCI PTO'ers at the time. I remember feeling fantastic when I saw the congressional medal on my profile for the first time.

I remember the best times of war, like the Mexican campaign under president Frost and the Russian invasion long before. (or after...my memory isn't the greatest.)

Anybody else remember?

I remember ranting all about the terrible new changes the admins made; only to find myself liking them months later. (The economy still sucks though)

Most of all, I remember how the game has changed since I first appeared. It's changed so much, for better or for worse, but it still manages to pull me back in no matter how hard I try and get away. Like many of you, I'll probably find myself coming back until the site finally pulls the plug. (Which hopefully isn't for a long time)

With that, I bid all of you farewell, in hopes we can all find greener grass!
