roland_up for congress in Chugoku

Day 765, 03:33 Published in Japan USA by roland_up

Hello,

My name is roland_up. I am a businessman, a worker and a citizenship of Japan. I am writing this article to announce my candidacy to run in the December congress election in the province of Chugoku for my party, the Democratic Party of Japan. But I will run under the SOS tag for this election because of the restriction that only the top 5 parties are allowed to participate. In this article, I hope I can make a convincing case here so that you will cast your vote for me.

This is my first time running for office, and to be honest, I am a bit of a reluctant candidate. I have only decided to run because of the encouragement from you party president, Metic, and the unfortunate withdrawal of my friend and fellow DPJ member, Aston due to RL problem. But now that I have decided to run, I will do my upmost best to serve my constituents as well as the people of eJapan if I am elected.

The reason I am reluctant to run for congress so far is because I don’t trust politicians. Perhaps it is due to the stereotype that they are usually associated as power hungry egomaniac, who promise the world, but then delivered nothing in return. I often question if they are really doing what’s best for the country, or just too busy using nice words to congratulate each other while there are no improvement in the life of the average citizen in this community.

I am sure if I am elected, many of you will ask me the same questions, because this skepticism is normal. Afterall, the people chose their representatives to serve their interest, but the politicians. They want their views to be heard and implemented.

I won’t start my political career by promising you the world and say “Vote for me, I am do everything you believe in.” It is just not practical that we will agree on every issue. But, if you happened to have a different point of view, I can promise you that your view will be represented and became part of my decision making process. I considered myself an active citizen, and I have often message my employees on various topics, so if you contact me, I will be available to listen to your concern.

Domestic Policies

+ I want to reshape the bureaucracies into more active and interactive bodies. While some of the governmental departments are doing a good job in reaching out to the people of Japan, and even burn themselves out. There are others as far as I know did practical nothing and they simply existed just for show.

In either case, I hope that the department would recruit more active people to handle the day-to-day operation of their agency, so that the people don’t burn themselves out. We are a 500 members strong team, I don’t know why we can’t have several people helping doing whatever that is needed. And it allows the departments more resources to reach out to the citizens. If needed, I’d like to have wages to be paid to people who wish to participate.

Moreover, I would like to see some sort of reporting made mandatory for the department heads to summarise what they did in a period of a week or a month, and submit them to congress, and the public can access that information through congress.

+ Education is a key part of developing our citizen’s skill, and my fellow DPJ member Metic, and Syman Templar and I are strong advocate of using education to improve the citizen’s skill and make them more involve into the community. I’ll credit Syman’s idea to provide training to business owners, so that they can pass the knowledge to their employees.

Military and Foreign Policies

+ The Kyushu policy is a divisive issue in the Japanese public and in the political scene. I am personally against the Kyushu policy, because I think it will prevent us to pursue an independent foreign policy in a long run. Some people has argued about the importance of neutrality. However, how can we do anything, such as pursuing righteousness if we are restricted to follow the policies we want?

Unfortunately, the solution to this is not easy, even after six months, the American public were obviously angry at the lease of Kyushu to Indonesia even after 6 months. It will take a long time for us to reassert our neutrality, so that it will allow us to follow whatever foreign policies, solutions we want.

+ In terms of military policies, I agree with the government’s current plan to reform the military to make it more efficient. Japan is surrounded by many adversaries, and given our relatively small and young population, we are neither a large military power nor a great economic power. Therefore, it is necessary for us to invest our resources in our defense, and make sure our resources are spent efficiently.

I thank you for reading through my wall of words, I am sorry about the typos in this article. To be honest I am in a rush when I am writing it. I hope the article would convince you to cast your vote for me, if you disagree with me or have any question, that’s fine, please feel free to message me if you want to discuss it with me. Now, I’ll going to write my reply for other people.

Btw, I’d like to thank the SOS Brigade to allow me to run as their candidate, it is very kind of them, and I hope they will have good result in this election.

To all of you, have a Merry Christmas, and don’t forget to vote.
