Resources revealed for V1
Antonio Fonti
Today the admin in his article has revealed the resources that each region will have, here is a quote from his article:
"The raw materials in V1 will be:
Grain - needed to create food units
Oil - needed to create moving tickets
Diamonds - needed to create gifts
Iron - needed to create weapons
Wood - needed to create buildings (hospitals, houses and a new secret building)
The food, moving, gifts and weapons industries will be considered the manufacturing domain.
In the productivity formula we have a variable called 'region productivity' which is now 1 for every region. For the raw materials industry this value will be 0.1, 1 or 2. "

More specifically this is what Japan has got for itself:
The numbers next to each region represent production of grain there, that is the most abundant resource in Japan
Hokkaido Sapporo Japan 1
.
Tohoku Sendai Japan 1
.
Kanto Tokyo Japan 2
.
Chubu Nagoya Japan 1
.
Kinki Osaka Japan 2
.
Chugoku Hiroshima Japan 1
.
Shikoku Matsuyama Japan 1
.
Kyushu Fukuoka Japan 2
And this shows the amount of wood resources Japan has, only Tokyo unfortunately and the porduction level is only average.
Kanto Tokyo Japan 1

To me it seems like we've been a bit shortchanged, getting no oil, diamonds or iron resources, so it seems we'll have to do a lot of importing in V1.
Comments
We could try exporting to South Africa
Plus the abundance of grain should make the final price of food in Japan lower than that of other countries, making the export of food profitable
Every country has comparable amunts of grain to us i believe, its the most abundant resource on the eWorld, i reckon we\'re lucky with that wood in Tokyo though.

Damn. Russia have everything.
No, Norway have everything 😉
I would liked to have had 1 more resource. But atleast we have 2 some countries only have 1 resource.
Although Japan in the RL is the 2nd most richest country.
Still, Japan does not have oil wells, diamond mines, or even many iron facilities in the real world, so I guess it makes sense. Hopefully wood will be valuable.
Hot damn, Krasnoyark looks like a pretty good place to live. I\'m so tempted to move there.
\"Every country has comparable amunts of grain to us i believe, its the most abundant resource on the eWorld, i reckon we\'re lucky with that wood in Tokyo though.\"
You are probably right Antonio Fonti, but the opportunity cost of producing food in Japan is lower than that of most countries. Countries that have a valor of 2 for production in other raw materials should concentrate production in those, leaving space for Japanese food and grain companies to close the gap between their production capability and consumer demand.
WTF? jees... i\'m beginning to more and more love the beta more than the coming V1...
For Region Prod factor... Is that the Region that the Company was created in, or the Region that the Employee lives in?
Considering that real life japan is 80% forested mountains, I think we got short changed on the wood. At least we won\'t starve too easily... even though I think RL Japan has far more wood than rice fields or grain, which they are a net importer of (largest importer as well I think).
Well, if every eCountry is made to equal the real countries, then some are going to get screwed. They\'ll have to try to make it fair...
This will definitely make the game much more complicated and fun at the same time... forcing the fact that we will have to import WEAPONS now, since it\'s almost impossible to manufacture that ourselves...
Goodwork Antonio...
This will also challenge the foriegn affairs abilities of our political parties so as to ensure that japanese will be able to have the extra edge...
Economical wise... i believe that there will be an increase in the pricing of houses and a decrease in pricing of food... for weapons though, government might want to lower tax and subsidise a portion of the fee since we\'re unable to manufacture it ourselves...
In general, the country with the most iron, will have the biggest say... Sadly, it wun be us...
japan is the 2nd richest because it\'s the 2nd biggest economy.
now a possible solution would be to create so accounts in foreign regions that would import them here. the only barrier to this would be the import tax. but like i said before i don\'t really like import taxes so i think this will be good. governments would think more about their import taxes now.
@ justinm
I had the same thoughts about setting up foreign SOs.
Least we got some 2\'s in Grain yes it\'s not exactly the most exportable but at least we won\'t starve. 😉
If foreign SOs became a problem, we could try the Company Tax thing again.
No wood in eJapan but in Tokyo ? eJapan may export food ?
I\'ll have to forget my (real) geography lesson 😁
@Antonio: You forgot to include S Korea? But it\'s all grain too. Hopefully the eRep team think this through a little more...
@ Inferno
Realised this aftre i\'d posted it, but it was just grain, so...
