Res Belgica Inaugural Adress

Fellow party members, fellow Belgians,

Normally the first thing I would do after being elected Party President would be to thank everyone who voted for me, as without you dedicated voters it would have not been possible for me to be where I am today. However, seeing as I was the only candidate, I'm feeling a bit ambiguous about the whole election. The fact that the Party President before me had quit weeks ago and had less than 10 health and happiness left doesn't help either.

Which brings me to the first item on my list of proposed changes: activity.
As it currently stands, Res Belgica, and the rest of the country I might add, severely suffers from inactivity and player retention problems. Most of the leadership has gone missing or quit outright. New players feel alone in the dark and damp environment that is eBelgium, devoid of guidance and advice.
One example, it has been ten (10!) days since I requested access to the Res Belgica party sub-forum on the eBelgian national forum, and even after being elected Party President four (4!) days ago, there hasn't been a single reply from a administrator or moderator to grant me permissions. Our own Res Belgica external forum is in the same dire situation, permissions don't seem to have been updated in months, which goes without saying, is detrimental for the so needed player retention in small countries like ours.

Therefore, I would like to completely overhaul the Res Belgica party leadership, the forum and the people who take care of it's day-to-day running. We need active and dedicated people in charge, not people who have quit or semi-active players who cling on to their position of power out of nostalgia reasons which does more damage than good for the party and the country at large. Worst case scenario where no one is around anymore to grant forum permissions, I would look for an entirely new forum so we can keep on allowing new people to our ranks. Hopefully it does not have to come to that. Out with the old, in with the new, as the saying goes.

A second point on my list would be information.
Res Belgica needs an updated eWiki page, an up to date forum with several active moderators that can easily grant new players forum rights so they can benefit from the knowledge and advice from the players that came before them. My goal as Party President of Res Belgica is to get a small team going of people whose main purpose is updating the wiki page, writing guides and making lists of useful links and information. I would also like us to have our own IRC channel where all members can meet at, and new players can come to in order to learn the ropes of the Belgian political system. Knowledge is power.

Needless to say, without an active leadership that actually knows what they are doing, there is not much else a party can do. Therefore I intend to use this term to build up the Res Belgica leadership in collaboration with it's members, and the people who ran the party in the previous months. We will not be conquering the world or recruiting 1.000+ members to our ranks anytime soon, for now, my ambitions are humble, and my main focus is to breathe some oxygen back into both the party and the country. The sooner we have active people running the show again, we can dream of more grandiose and ambitious plans to help further our country.

That's it for now Belgium, I expect to make weekly updates reflecting on my progress and important national developments.

Voting and subscribing would be much appreciated.

Faithfully yours,

Habraka Abrivianius
