I totally disagree with that article and i decided to write my own,
First of all we have to ask a question: what are alliances for, why they were created and what is the reason they exist.
Alliances are a group of countries that fight side by side to have fun in game. They are a created to attack opponents and help in defence when one of its members is attack. They help they do not win battles for an ally.
That whole discussion about Terra, Eden or One is funny. You all people think that in case South Africa is attacked, the alliance will leave all its battles and come to defend South Africa - it will not happen. It was like that in V1. Times have changed. Alliance will help when they see a point in it. They see that we fight and their small help will make a difference and move the bar to the 2nd side. That will never happen in South Africa. Why? Because our nation doesn't fight. We have just a few players that put their best effort to fight daily many times, use gold to buy tanks and rank up as fast as they can. The time when one person using loads of gold to tank in one battle is over.
A few days ago me, Crumoet and Grimstone created a separate military unit pages in egov. Right now it shows data collected from a week. What it says? It is funny to watch 😛
There are just a few fighters in South Africa, most of citizens do not fight as many times as they should, but they have a lot of time to be active on forums or make war analyses like Twilight Sparkle - the player that didn't fire a single shot in more then a week. People that do not fight are making that country weaker and weaker each day. For them it doesn't matter if we produce 12 weapons or 140 foods - they do not use it anyway. But for people like Ex Banned'it that did more then 1400 fights in a week - matters. For fighters it matters if they have to buy food or they can produce it on their own and that 20-40% of production bonus counts. As you know some of the best South African citizens have different citizenship - mostly Polish. When the non fighting part of our society will understand that if rest of fighters and company owners leave South Africa then the only thing left will be your external forum. Because soon Brazil or Indonesia will take our land for rest of bonuses they need and we do not deserve.

I'm sad I'm not in those ;_;
First off, when did I ever say that we needed people to win battles for us? When did I even say we needed help winning battles? At most, I issued the very basic "we could use help from an ally." I never said anything in reference to needed help specifically on the battlefield and certainly not that we need other people to do all the work for us.
Okay. I haven't fought in a while. What does this have to do with which alliance is in the best interest for the country? Again, the only statement in the article I said that yo could be in reference to is "we're kinda weak compared to some of the high rollers" and even if me and every other person who hasn't fought for a while bought $150 worth of Gold and started tanking the ever-loving shit out of every battle we saw, eSA still wouldn't come close to countries like the US.
Well if you bought 150g and started tanking, it wouldn't mean shit because you don't fight, and therefore are weak 😛
"You all people think that in case South Africa is attacked, the alliance will leave all its battles and come to defend South Africa - it will not happen. It was like that in V1. Times have changed. Alliance will help when they see a point in it."
That's pretty much what Twilight (and Nationalist Union's policy platform for that matter) has been saying for a long time. Alliances don't want to play babysitter (like EDEN and ONE). Luna would be a decent fit because we are similar to the other member nations and Luna members also cooperate in anti-PTO operations. We would not be counting on Luna to save us, but it would help.
Joining an alliance like Luna would also benefit our foreign policy image on the eWorld stage, because at the moment we are sort of viewed as opportunistic flip-floppers (just from talking to some of my EDEN friends).
I have to agree with the idea that if we are attacked, an alliance won't help us.
Why? Because when we were in an alliance, and we were attacked, the alliance didn't help us.
A few people from different countries joined in to help, but that was it. A pitiful international showing.
We should remain completely indipendent and build up our national ability to defend ourselves. If that meens getting people to click 20 times more than they normally do a day, I think we should promote it. If we are attacked, there should be a system so that everybody can fight, have weapons, and such, even if they don't know how to. We would teach our citizens.
Readiness is always more important than a last minute plan though, so continued building up of our armed forces is paramount to our survival. It's not about military spending and crap... this games economy is BASED on war, the politics are just a fun way to direct the war in the way the leaders want... So the more military we have, the richer we are in the end. It drives the economy and makes our players better.
I'm a pacifist and strongly anti- war. It's the fact of how the game works that you have to remember.
So, in my opinion, having a large, well equiped armed force is what we need. Not letting it get to our heads is another; it should have a purpose of defending ourselves and any REALlY close friends we make.
Let's stop being flip floppers and oppertunity driven and start going on our own path. It's what we should have started doing a long time ago.
...I'm really confused here. You guys realize that my article was written for a competition, right? In which you compared and contrasted alliances to which one is more in eSA's best interest. Which I did. What is even worth debating in that article?
