Referendum Now!
John Wilkmot
Today Canada, Congress is voting on an issue that is very vital. Even now we hear of more votes. Although our speaker has released a lovely article on the situation. We as citizens must go further! You need to write to your congressman or congresswoman and give them a message. Tell them that YOU want a referendum and you want it now. I myself have proposed we handle the situation with a referendum but I need YOUR help! Help me to help you eCanada. Find out who your local congressman is from the elections tab (http://www.erepublik.com/en/elections/country-23-election-congress-date-2009-05/1) and make your voice heard! Let's make the public vote on what we should do!

I would like the congressmen from ontario to vote for a referendum
Aww now im gonna get emails.
Referendum-
I fully support every citizen being able to represent themselves through a vote.
But a few logistical questions:
- How will the vote be conducted ensuring Peace does not send its voting corps to this referendum?
- Dont we have elections where congress is voted in every month for such situations? Would it not make more sense for the people to message their congressmen to ensure their voice is heard and represented?
In the end my main concern is containment of this referendum by non-Canadians who have ulterior motives other than what is best for Canada.
If such security measures can be guaranteed- then i am fully behind the establishment of this referendum.
John Wilkmot= PEACE agent
I'm with JT on this. A referendum is an open invitation for PEACE to tilt the vote to their favor.
Now that this matter is out in the open, Congress needs to settle it before the next round of elections for the same reason.
The "Huns" must be licking their chops right now at the thought of fresh beaver.
"The "Huns" must be licking their chops" & former ATLANTIS members must be shaking their heads.
If we want to get some leverage when negotiating with former/potential allies, we could at least take a few lessons from the experts on international intrigue, North Korea. 1) Detonate a nuke. 2) Fanatically worship a leader for a glorious empire. So far we've only got one of those covered.
When did we detonate a nuke? 😛
could we not simply hold the referendum via an article where people voting would just state a comment saying their choice. This way the names would be seen and thus you could check if the person has just come from a peace nation...?
or could we just give citizens a given time to contact their representative say give them 48 hours to send a msg and then allow the congressional representative to vote the way the majority of people wished who contacted them????
To my inboxes dismay, I am fully open to my constituents. During the election I PM'd all of said constituents to voice their opinon at anytime. Till now, however, no one has conacted me.
As a very general and loose statement I do not favor a referendum. We have elected individuals whose responsibility is to lead and make decisions on our behalf. Referendums to a degree circumvent the democratic process that is in place. If I am unhappy with the decisions made by my representative in congress, my opportunity to participate in the democratic process is at the ballot box during future elections.
Jake Bravo, well said. Usually referendum proposers are those who just don't like the outcome. Look forward to an influx of referendum voters from other countries, who WILL ensure the results meet whatever is beneficial to their nation.
Romania galvanized 5000 of 15000 citizens in a day or 2 to PTO Indonesia. We'll be inundated with outsiders, and while they're here, they may cause other trouble. Let the democratic political process run its course. If one doesn't like the outcome, pay attention to who you vote for in the next elections.
