Rebuilding America One Brick at a Time

Day 642, 09:25 Published in USA Poland by Battle Kitten

Never, never, never believe any war will be smooth and easy, or that anyone who embarks on the strange voyage can measure the tides and hurricanes he will encounter. The statesman who yields to war fever must realize that once the signal is given, he is no longer the master of policy but the slave of unforeseeable and uncontrollable events.
Sir Winston Churchill

America is finally on the brink. At long last the final hours of this nation as we know it might now upon us. While some might see this as an end, I see this as merely a new beginning. For quite some time now we have been engaged in a great world war. Faced with insurmountable odds we have fought. Sometimes we have won, more often than not though we have lost. It’s easy to sit back and point the finger of blame at one group or another. It is far harder look within and realize that as a nation we made serious errors and in order to rectify them we need to make fundamental changes of a scope never seen before in this game.

When I speak of change, I am not merely speaking of simple changes of the way government departments are run or how we enact policy. We need to repaint the American canvas with a broad brush. We need to reinvent ourselves from the ground up. Our government and our populace must be reinvigorated with new ideas and a new attitude at home and around the world. It was once said that “No man is an island”; this is quote is applicable to nations too.

This country is great for a variety of reasons. Our population is dedicated, selfless, and often insightful. All of this said, we also have flaws that when we capture our nation we need to rectify if we have any hopes of reaching our full potential as both a world power and as a benefactor and friend to the oppressed nations around the globe.

Our failure in this war was not determined solely if at all by military strength or commitment. Our military is amongst the finest in the world. I have seen their excellence every day for the past three or four months. As a member of the Airborne and the United States Marine Corps, I have gotten to see the commitment and dedication of some of America’s finest citizens’ on a daily basis. Facing almost impossible odds these men and women have been asked to do the impossible and have done the best they could possibly do.

So what got us into this position and what can we do with our eventual second chance? Two things primarily sealed America’s fate even before this current war began: Foreign Policy and rampant partisanship. To say that our foreign policy was poor is an understatement to say the least. We errantly believed that our MPP’s would protect us and we hopped from one conflict to another, opening more and more potential fronts with our enemies while never closing them. I am no master military strategist and I even see that this path of action was a recipe for disaster. The open fronts with Portugal, France, and Russia were dangerous, when Indonesia opened up the final front, this war was over before they even reached California.

Another fatal flaw in eAmerica was rampant partisanship. Everyone created this atmosphere, helped it grow, and eventually allowed us to blind us and slowly kill us. I myself probably enjoyed the partisan bickering too. I loved the political challenge and the competition it fostered. Only problem was, it also fostered wide divisions in this country and blinded us from imminent danger. We were more focused on tearing ourselves apart than creating solid policy and having a real vision of where this country was going and could accomplish.

So, how do we rebuild a better and wiser America? The answer to this question is simple, but the work will be hard and arduous. First, we need to re-examine our political attitudes here at home. Is partisanship really worth it? We currently have 31 parties in this country. Is that really necessary? Granted, not all of them are active or even in contention for government seats, but it does say something about our priorities. What has the divisions it has given us in this country given us in terms of new ideas? Truthfully we haven’t had many new and exciting ideas in a long time. If we had 4 or 5 parties in this country filled with excellent potential candidates we could do so much more with our time and efforts. Rather than seeing every election as an opportunity to rip each other’s guts out, maybe we could put our best and brightest forward and have them debate serious issues and come up with policies and plans that could truly better eAmerica rather than having them fall in line with the traditional party line.

Lastly, we need to reassess our foreign policy attitudes. Opposing PEACE’s imperialistic plans is a good thing. No country no matter how great or small deserves to be crushed under the boot heel of these two-bit dictators. All of this said, if we plan on opposing imperialism, then maybe we shouldn’t have had imperialistic designs of our own. We started a lot of wars for all the wrong reasons. The pursuit of iron or additional territories isn’t a good thing and it especially isn’t a good thing when it puts the security of our own national at risk. If we want to be the good guy then we need to act like it. When helpless nations are being crushed no matter who their allegiances lie with, then we should be willing to help them. We need to avoid alliances that entangle us in matters that are none of our business. We need to reassess our role in the world and determine not only our own destiny, but also how we want to be accepted and perceived. I’d rather see our country spreading goodwill around the world and fighting for the freedom of the little guy rather than marching on Mexico. I am firmly convinced that if we spread real American ideals around the world and showed the world the best of what America has to offer, then PEACE would crumble quickly and would be a distant memory within months.

The path we face is a difficult one. We now live in a country decimated by war. We face a myriad of challenges that no other country in the world has ever had to face. We need to recapture all of our states, rebuild our infrastructure, develop solid economic strategies so we can fund our military and social programs, foster a spirit of multi-partisanship, and lastly develop a new and benevolent foreign policy. It’s going to be difficult and often exhausting, but we can do it. We’re going to take back our country inch by inch and state by state. We’re going to rebuild ourselves one step at a time and when it’s over we will be stronger, tougher, and greater than we were before and the current hardships we have faced will have made it all worthwhile.
